where did i say he would play against the swans?

i didn't give any prediction

i just explained misson's comment meant swans or hawkes (2-3)

Maybe you shouldn't butt in half way through other people's conversations then?

Given the news on Jetta I can see only one change.

IN: Dawes

OUT: McKenzie

I'd actually like to see them play Watts in the midfield this week. Start him on a wing, and after each centre bounce get him to play a run with role on Kennedy. May actually help take him to the ball maybe and get involved?

If Jetta was fit then I'd of had Watts making way, but we just don't have the depth, especially players with pace to not play Watts. At least for this week anyway.

Im pretty sure it was in the second quarter, but I saw Watts actively lead hard at the ball and attack the contest. Sure, it was just one time, but the way everyone works, is if Watts did one soft thing, they'd be all over it. I don't really care for anyone saying 'he's supposed to, It's SHOULD be what forwards do' or anything like that. Watts is a great ball user, our team simply cannot utilize him effectively at the moment. He's being asked to fill holes, he is taking up the challenge, he might not be the best player out there, or he might be, until he is settled in one spot for 2-3 years we wont know that. The fact he has stuck around the club deserves respect. Every player and their dog were up and leaving, but he stayed. Roos is doing the best with Jack, but does not have the luxury to settle him in one position at the moment, simple as that. I personally admire him, playing 100 games (I wonder how many of those were wins? or even close games for that matter?) for our club, re-signs when everyone expected him to go, and he is boo'd in his 100th? That was so far beyond disrespectful toward Jack, that it is not even funny. Booing any player is unacceptable. We as a club, a community and as a footballing family need to be better than this. I never saw Hawkins being boo'd, and that's the culture of the Geelong fans, supportive. How are we going to build a club that is successful and a tight-knit group with antics like these from fans? Its football and there is passion, I understand that, but there is also a line that needs to be drawn. I doubt Jack would walk into your office, call your paperwork sloppy and call for you to be fire/ replaced by a trash can.

Agree. Either on a Wing or at the bounce.

Here is the latest Misson report...http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-05-06/jetta-set-to-miss-again

Misson says Jetta and Dawes will be tested later in the week.

Salem isn't listed so he must have recovered ok from the concussion.

So Salem in for this week, Dawes likely and possibly Jetta to play.

I reckon Full Forward Deep inside 50m, tell him long straight leads and hit the contest, simplify the game as much as we can for him, to me Watts thinks to much.

I expect this to be at Casey though

Watts won't be dropped . Roos talked about our young mids being 3-4 kms per game off the required running capacity thus a need for an extra rotation so it's one ruckman . Jetta misses again . Id go with the same team what's the point in bringing in less talented or like for like . Get games into the kids that played last week Jkh brayshaw . Hopefully as the year builds in the 2's we see White Harmes Neal Bullen given a run in the firsts .[/quote

Forgot about Dawes , in for Mckenzie

Posted (edited)

I reckon against the swans we have to think a bit differently. First if it's dry I would go with a tall backline and two ruckman, this means Fitz, Dawes and Gawn come in for Pedeson, Mckenzie and Newton, who I thought was ordinary against the dockers. I would also be tempted to replace Michie with Riley as he was BOG at Casey.

This means Gawn is the third tall forward, and second ruck. Mcdonald takes franklin, Fitz takes Tippett, and Dunn takes Sam Reid. Garland takes Goodes

The team looks something like this:

Dunn. Fitz. Garland.

Howe . McDonald. Grimes

Lumumba. Jones. Vince

Garlett Hogan. Van den berg

Gawn. Dawes. Brayshaw

Jamar. Tyson. Viney.

Interchange: Riley Cross. Salem

Sub: Watts

This will also send a signal to Watts and the rest of the players that under performance will not be tolerated.

From Inside Footy player ratings. Reckon 5 is a bit generous for some.

An interesting comment by Denham in today's Australian: "The Demons will consider recalling Jimmy Toumpas from a stint in the VFL and possibly teenager Billy Stretch for his first game."

Is he guessing or are there changes afoot! It seems Dawes is likely to be in. So that is 3 possible 'ins' (4 if Jetta passes a test). The 'outs': McKenzie, JKH, Grimes and ?

Delighted that Stretch might get a chance...great experience for him playing against Sydney/Hawkes.

On a side note it looks like Frawley will be playing this Sat so will be playing vs us. An interesting match up to see him up against Hogan. Hogan will thrash him! He is faster, stronger, smarter and reads the play better. Will be worth watching!!

Interesting stuff.

Strecth didn't play on the weekend though, so I doubt very much he will debut.

Out: Mckenzie (never to be seen again) Grimes (move on at years end) Pederson

In: Dawes, Fitzpatrick, Toumpas (so we can see the last of him)

He was emergency for us, so he couldn't play for Casey (they played an hour before our game).

Stretch in!

Surprised to see Grimes dropped after 1 game, I wonder who is going to play that position.

Jamar also out (assuming injured, although it simply says omitted).

Edit: Jamar is an emergency which is weird.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
