Dion Prestia

In tonight's Footy Classified, each panellist made their big call for the season.

When it came to Garry Lyon's big call, he stated that a key GC player will return to Victoria next year. When pressed further, he basically said it was Dion Prestia.

I may be drawing a long bow but could Lyon be hinting that the Dees are after him?

Lyon obviously has a connection to Melbourne and we all know that Prestia is a life long Dee fan and his parents are influential supporters/members of the club.

I'm probably making something out of nothing but how good would this kid be at the Dees! Maybe we could deal Howe to GC if he wants out.

I had connections with Prestia school mate from assumption. We were heavily into him end of 2012 and during 2013. But with all the drama and [censored] that went through 2013 and Neeldy getting sacked he picked the safer option by staying with the suns. His family is heavily involved at the footy club last i heard.

definitely wouldn't rule it out at this stage.

Thanks BBP. It's not really a big call for THIS season though is it, given that we're talking about the end of 2016? Pretty premature from Gaz. He's contracted for another 18 months.

Was watching but missed the Prestia bit. I assumed it was Gary Ablett, but has he re-signed? If it is Pretia he will probably go to the Hawks, you know the team with the bottomless salary cap.

Cue Prestia coming out and tearing the game apart on Saturday!

He's a jet. Plays just like Jonesy. Wins it in close then bursts in to space and uses it well.

But I don't really love these rumours, especially at this time of year. Not sure Garry Lyon has done anyone any favours.

I don't think Lyon has any real contacts left at the MFC. He's pretty much cut ties with us. He's one of the few former players/officials in the media who doesn't use his position to advocate for his club. In all honestly I'd be shocked if anyone at the club was giving him inside info.

Contacts mean SFA these days pants. It's a free for all now. Offer enough incentive, either money of success, add the right set of circumstances and trade bait, and no one cares about how much time is left on the contract. Exhibit one: Boyd and Griffen.

We had a cracked - he said no. Family ties mean little. He won't be coming home.

GNF - the guy that told us we offered two picks for Dangerfield and that Jake Lever was a lock at pick 3?

So what would Prestia be worth to us? What might get the deal done?

Suns will want a lot. First round pick and a young player or Maybe Jeremy Howe or Jack Watts (not that I want either gone, just what Suns might want)

Definitely a first rounder mate and most likely a player.. Howe?

The Suns will want more than just a draft pick and they will only want the players that we won't let go like N.Jones, Tyson, Hogan and Brayshaw (if he steps up) the rest they won't be interested in. Zero chance of him coming to Melbourne.

Know his sister very well (who is a massive dees supporter) and there is no chance of him coming to the Melbourne, he loves the GC Suns.

Posted

We could offer him 750,000 per year. But then he might get depressed playing for the not so mighty Dees, retire, have a miraculous cure and then go and play for Geelong.

There are a lot more clubs in Victoria than Melbourne

Certainly are drawing a long bow BBP

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
