Chapman, Zaharakis, Cooney, Goddard, Daniher, that ain't a VFL side

Also a bunch of fringe players who are desperately playing to prove themselves (the VFL players too, a lot of them are using this as an audition)

Yes, if Jack V wasn't the son of a club fave he would be the latest DL whipping boy! No mercy would be shown him.

Not sure how many lives he has left before the fans turn on him too.

it's a good point, if he had a different surname he might not even be drafted, I have said all along that his physique doesn't match his style, having said that I'm sure he bleeds for the dees and I hope he proves us all wrong

Charged me and my mate $7.50 a beer and it was only a mid strength in a crappy plastic cup and $10.50 for a so called chicken burger wrapped in bread that tasted like plastic.

Southern cross didn't have trains running for nearly 30 mins from the station post game.

Our team lost to a team of seconds and fill ins. I could have chosen to see a great band with friends.

I have never seen a win at Etihiad nor a grand final win and I'm in my 40s.

Other than that it was a great night.

For crying out loud! Poor Viney has one shocker and everyone's out for blood. I would rather he get it out of the way tonight. The Kid bleeds for our Club, and we have you naysayers baying for his blood! Don't you think he would be hardest on himself. If we know anything about Jack, he will come out Rnd 1 and tear the Suns a new one. YOU MARK MY WORDS.

No one is baying for his blood. Viney was good tonight, he makes the odd error and unfortunately made one at the wrong time.

Hopefully he learns from it, he is a little bit rushed and probably needs to work on his composure - and decision making.

Stop talking sense rhaz, it's not welcome when it's wrist slashing time...

Since when did commenting on the blatantly obvious become wrist slashing? I'm not stressed about it I was only half watching the game and laughing half the time I was paying attention. But to deny this was a mediocre effort even by MFC standards is to deny reality.

From what I've read I don't think anyone is having a go at Viney, unless I missed it Sambo.

Settle down people. It doesn't look good but it is the NAB cup.

Roos' teams rarely win pre-season games because he gets them to practice things, not win games. It was horrible tonight and some major question marks on some of our younger players but this is not for 4 points.

If we were the Hawkes the view that this is a NAB cup would be fine. We aren't.

I would like to know what things did we practice? Bottom line, yes it was horrible tonight. Even our practice was sh!t.

Posts on here get worse and worse every week. Hogan is 100% playing round one, who do you propose takes his spot ?

I don't think Hogan will play all games, Pedersen might be handy

AHHHHH I wondered where you were Sambo More sugar please.

It's not sugar Jack. It's reality. Poor Old Jack has just become another whipping boy. Watts, Toump and now Viney!

The difference with Jack, is that he rarely puts bad ones in back to back. The kid will kill it Round 1. And he WILL be there Rnd 1 thru to Rnd 22. He is what our Club is trying to stand for. Heart, Desire and Toughness. We cannot turn this mess around in 1 year guys. But where we are is certainly not Jack's fault.

Give the Kid a break.

Chapman and Cooney are on their last legs and the other 19 players are either kids or VFL top ups.

Remember when we beat a full strength Essendon team last year? Oh yeah, and that was in the real season when we were playing for points.

the amount of $$ Hogan is commanding is a joke at the moment. He looks slow and fumbly.

Jack Watts looked worth a million bucks next to him.

Suns are going to murder us in round one. Absolutely murder us.

And the same old creeping fears will rear their heads again.

pretty disappointing, i'm struggling to see how Jack Viney will get another AFL contract, unfortunately looks a bit of plodder, and i'm not just making that comment based on that kick, the whole 2nd half was absolute rubbish from hiim.

H Lamumba a lock for the B&F I'd say.

I'm a Jack Viney fan, and he'll be great I'm sure, but honestly even before that gift turnover to lose the game, he was TERRIBLE. Miskicks, getting pinged for HTB, not being able to pick the right or quick option. He had an old fashioned shocker the poor bugger.

Not denying it's mediocre. I just don't buy in to all the over the top reactions to it. It's the NAB Cup. When we get flogged and we are struggling by about Round 4 THEN I'll be worried. Until then I'll just mark it down as a bad night at the office and wait and see how we respond when the real stuff starts.

Well of course beeding for the club is much much better than having genuine skill and class isnt it?

Sorry they are NOT, the I will only buy a membership if they don't win line is crap, anyone can go to a website and say they are a supporter, but are they? I have seen some good times and (to many bad ones) but will still buy my membership every year.

I buy my membership year after terrible year as well, and will continue to do so. The point is, people are angry right now. When they're angry, they're going to say things they don't mean, like threaten not to renew membership. The fact that they care enough to be angry shows that they're here for the long haul. I don't begrudge them their right to vent.

Anyone COULD make a profile and call themselves a supporter. But why WOULD they unles they were?

It's when someone grows numb to the losses and no longer gets angry, no longer caring that we have to worry.

This was a game that NEEDED to be won, pre-season or not. The demons released a statement last night about Lumumba saying he was helping us build towards being a respected club.

Losing to what is essentially a VFL team has dashed that goal into the foreseeable future.

I am pretty livid with tonight but let's not go crazy here. One very bad game does not a career end make. He is 20. Let's just calm down with the big calls.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
