Our next breakout star is ...

We won that deal by so far it isn't even funny.

Cant believe people rate Josh Kelly so highly, hes done no more than Salem so far and shown nothing more either. Seems people drool over him cos he was taken at pick 2, who cares? Salem was pick 9 and Tyson pick 3

even if it was just a 1 for 1 dell Tyson for Kelly Id still say we came out on top

Kelly has done A LOT more than Salem so far. That is partially only due to Salem having next to no pre-season.

Kelly has already shown what he is capable of, now we are starting to see Christian Salem show what he is capable of.

I thought they were hard to split at the time of the draft, I had Salem at 1 and Kelly at 2, but hard to split.

Hopefully we can land Josh Kelly in the future, he should definitely be the no 1 target of the MFC, without a doubt.

Agree we came out on top, I believe Dom Tyson is a better player than Josh Kelly right now and will continue to improve after his first full pre season, Salem on todays form is a very handy bonus that pushes the trade clearly into our favour at this stage.

however i think Josh Kelly will be a star, and start really impacting games as soon as this year, but if he is ever going to be so good that he makes this trade look like an absolute stuff up on our end as people have suggested he will have to be the next Gary Ablett jr, because our boys i think are both on the way to being genuine A graders

at worst it's 1 superstar for 2 stars.

I don't even think the Salem/Kelly part of it is that important. Tyson was 2nd in the B&F last year and thus is already our second best player behind the skipper. Kelly can be as good as he likes, Tyson's impact on this club alone makes the trade a good one. Hutchison showed his lack of sense by questioning it.

I know it's easy to munge all the peanuts in to one, but I'm assuming you mean Barrett.

Sometimes I think I should save some space in my precious memory and just refer to the three of them as "Hutchettinson".

This is one of the most ridiculous things i have read in regards to Kelly. While im happy with the trade, Kelly showed last year he will be a star. You obviously didn't watch his game against us both times when he ran rings around us.

Its a win win for both clubs

Barrett has been the most vocal about it but Hutchison also questioned it during the telecast today, amongst the awkward banter with Pickering.

Salem does look very good. Needs to get more of it - not that I'm worried about that right now... young kid and all - but when he has it you know it's going to put to good use.

Happy to go a bit early on him not getting enough... and get it wrong, Boy does this kid look polished. Still young, and because of that is still learning, but a 23 yo Chris is something to look forward to.

How about something more onomapotoeic, like... "Barchsit".

I love this video anyway, but check out Jones at 2:43, 6:10, 8:40 and Tyson at 9:05, 11:04, 12:30.

If these two aren't stars this year, it'll only be because the rest of the side are so bad that we're unwatchable to the rest of the league.

A great highlight reel but it also shows why Watts, Dawes and JKH, will remain integral to our forward structure now that it has been augmented by the inclusion of Hogan and Garlett! Edited by CBDees

People on this board overrate JKH way too much...

He wins a lot of one on ones , is atheletic has pace and flashes of brilliance call it x factor , he will make mistakes/ is learning but he showed his class against the dogs yesterday with some decent play quick hands and foot skills . watching him at training he looks an absolute jet marking at pace and height well balanced and a decent kick both sides . Confident kid also .

Tyson for me too judging by last year.Expecting even bigger things this year.

Tyson is too good to be a "break out" he broke out last year. He already is a star and will enhance his star status further this year.

Look at the list none of those players have done anything yet while Tyson finished 2nd in the B&F last year.

know he doesn't play for us, but Nakia Cockatoo has star written all over him, wish we'd managed to draft him.

Yep.

I like JKH, very good mover. Give him a couple more seasons he will regularly make blokes look silly.

I reckon Gartlett and Lumumba will each have a really good year.

I'm also hoping that Jack Watts will become our Gunston now that we have, on paper at least, a well balanced forward line: talls and smalls.

Tyson and Salem are the running players who seem likely to get greater recognition. And Vandenberg.

I hope Hogan as the whole team structure would take on a new appearance and allow us to play different and more flexible footy.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
