I think putting a screw in it is a bit of an overreaction, and it will definitely not see him ready for Round 1. From memory, that was the issue with Clark's foot, so they took it out, now look at him go.

I never said put a screw in it..

Thread title gave me (and all of us no doubt) a [censored] heart attack.

Thank god damn christ the scans were clear.

Was my poor attempt at humour. Not the appropriate thread to try such rot.

All good.

Just rest him till round 1 i think. These type of injuries can flare up if not looked after properly.

Is Fitzy right this week??

Glass man. Calling it now- he will be injured and on the sidelines more often than not!

Ridiculous chicken little. Someone stood on his foot and being cautious we scanned it and no issues. We are taking an over cautious approach to all potential injuries this year and holding guys back.

I expect he will be rested this weekend and then fine for the final preseason game.

Lol. Wouldn't a Hogan foot injury be the funniest thing. If it wasn't already obvious, the footy gods are *clearly* taking the piss out of us now.

Calling it now. A number of D'landers will make bold predictions with no real justification and when they are accidentally proven right will say 'told you so' and when they are wrong hope no one will remember, including themselves.

There is a future here for those selling 'predict your unborn kid's sex' with 'money-back if wrong'.

Funny. The worst thing ever. Same same.

Thank god it's all clear. Can we just do an Essendon and not play anyone until Round 1?

A good idea for our nerves. It would have an interesting effect on next year's preseason plans and conventional wisdom if most Essendon players don't play till Round 1 and they go on to have a great season. Assuming they aren't rubbed out entirely of course.

Had a brief heart palpitation... and then it was all good.

Give the kid a rest for the week and bring him back for NAB 3 against the scum.

Let's see if Fitzy can come in and give us something for once.

I don't like the fact that a knee in the back has ruined his first year, and a stud in his foot almost put him out long term as well.

The club has to stop talking about this kid, because love him as much as we do and as good as he could be - he is made of glass.

The more we build him up as a Messiah - or in Roosy's case emphasise how he ISN'T one - the more the fans will be let down when he inevitably hurts himself again.

Ridiculous statement!! He has been unfortunate in that he got a knee in the back and a stud in the foot. How on earth do those events give the impression that he is made of glass? Unlucky? yes... made of glass? never!

I think for some of the comments that appear in these kinds of discussions, put a sock in it would be far more appropriate.

I suspect that if we had not had our recent run of foot injuries, or the Hogan back incident last preseason, this would not even have made a scan.

Sounds to me like someone stepped on him, he has a bruise/tender spot and they scanned as utmost precaution.

If it is still bruised come next weekend, they'll give him a week off because, hey, who cares if he misses a practice match.

Can't we just lock him away in a padded room and bring him out for yard time and game day only?

I think Jesse will have an injury riddled career just based on his disregard for his own safety when he attacks the pill. Especially in big contests. We will have to get used to him being managed.

His aggression at the ball is his greatest attribute and I think he will spend many a day on the sidelines from destroying himself and others along the journey.

And my god we are going to love him for it.

Correct, damned if you do the right thing, damned if you don't, imagine the posts if the training staff had said to some on Monday he had gone for scans on this foot

Yes he is, he is hoping to get a run, this will open the door, he has done his first full pre season and then got a virus just before Freo game

The thing working against you sue is that over the last decade the negative things have won out hands down.

If you predicted a bad outcome over that period you could hardly lose, think of the worst case scenario and it came true.

Let's hope we turn the corner in 2015.

This might be the reason why we were touted as being keen on McCartin in last years draft

I recall as a teenager my local club paid a king's ransom to recruit a former AFL-listed key forward who had routinely led the league in goal kicking, to be the key piece to push us into premiership favouritism.

In a marking contest at training during preseason I stepped on his foot in a rather innocuous fashion.

He missed a couple of games, which turned into a handful of games, which turned into a season and he never did anything of note on a footy field ever again.

The moral of the story? Make sure I don't step on your foot.

He'll be fine.

Or he won't.

Then a good opportunity for him.

Im a big fitzy fan and i still see great potential in him. Just hope he fires up..

We were touted as taking McCartin because he was the best available not because we knew Jesse Hogan would have his foot stood on in Nab 1.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
