Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Love your Book Redman.

Should be a must read for all D'Landers.

Riley has come off a very low base.

He was in Rehab up until Maroochydore.

The one thing I have noticed, pre Xmas they didn't do any ruck similations.

Every clearance came from defence.

Does ROOSY have any use of Ruckmen any more.

Fitzpatrick is still far too skinny and awkward to play as a key forward, Dawes consistently outmuscled him (however he too struggled with his marks)....he is nearly 98K now, Fitzy tends not to involve himself in wrestling when playing, he uses his speed and agility to get free, he has not scored many goals as yet, but check out the vision of the ones he has, you don't want 3 or four guys wrestling their opponents in the forward 50

Toumpas continues to sound like a concern.

No he is not, his kicking is fine, he hardly misses a target, watched every session since November

Fitzpatrick might be 98 kilograms but he is still too skinny.

James Strauss rarely missed targets at training either, becuase of his lean-back action Toumpas' kicking lacks penetration which in the long run will hold him back. He is a neat kick I agree, but he is a massive concern based on the complete package.

What type of player is he?

Is this Picket Fence using another name?

Funny you think he can't kick. Plenty of the real experts know better.

Let's try Wing or Half Back Flank. This is where he shone in his under age years. Has he been tried there yet in his AFL career? No is the answer to that question. Ollie was picked as an inside mid, and guess what, that's were Port are playing him.

Agree let's try him in his best position. I just hope he shows us what his weapons are this season. I want him to make it but I just haven't determined what special skills he brings onto the field yet. As an early pick he was touted as a super inside and outside midfielder I thought.

I never said "he can't kick". In fact, I said he is a "neat kick", which he is. The point is, with that action he lacks penetration and as an outside midfielder we need players who can kick with penetration.

I don't know about his action but he does tend to chip the ball around, you rarely see him go long. I can only remember him doing it once or twice but he did get good distance and accuracy with those kicks. As I've said before, this year will tell us a lot about Jimmy.

I'm not going to judge him yet.

His 'weapons' would be outside run, speed, good decision making and kicking to the advantage of his teammates - something we've lacked for years. We have to remember he had hip surgery before we drafted him - which it looks like from pre-season training reports that he's only now just getting his real pace back.

This is what his pre-draft package looks like:

I'm a big fan, much like I am any of our new recruits and have high hopes that he makes a real player of himself at Melbourne.

To me he looks the sort that needs time and games. Needs to be shown that he has the faith of his coach and allowed to settle in and get his confidence going. As that package shows, he can do it against the men. He only had 10 Senior games at SANFL level but had faith shown in him and look what he did.

Good afternoon, fellow attendees, optimists, hair shirt wearers, lemon suckers and innocent bystanders

The other posters have covered most of the drills, some was good, some was sloppy, depends on who and what you were watching, watched one run where the ball hit the deck or missed the target throughout, but it still got upfield

Roos very vocal today

Sad bit, near end of session Alex Neal Bullen was doing some innocuous bag work with Brad Miller and dislocated his knee again, went straight back on, but was carried off on golf cart, not a happy chap.

Got 'tightness' out of Howie for his hamstring and a 'wait and see' from Dave Misson, assume they are still testing/scanning.

Only others missing were King and Trengove.

Spoke to a few players, all said they had been hammered at the camp in Maroochydore, today was light easy session.

Hogan is still on a modified program, hates having to stop, doing the same session as Hunt today, who is also returning from back issues.

Had a good chat to JKH, sadly lacking in confidence NOT, agreed Nev Jetta is constantly in his ear about improving, another one who has not missed a beat pre season.

Bernie Vince seemed to be the only one in rehab, was running laps, got a big thumbs up, so don't think there is a problem there.

Somebody a few topics ago asked about Jordie McKenzie and his fitness, full pre seasons etc, this is not his first full pre season, he thinks, but has never been fitter.

And for a few that have been asking, asked Nev about Jeff Garlett, he is now regarded as one of the best two way runners at the club, sets the standard, absolutely carved them up in match sim at Maroochydore.

Some pics will be on my Twitter Demonpk tomorrow, got other things to do today.

Dislocated knee or dislocated patella? Massive difference, hope it was the patella. Think that's what he injured last time wasn't it. No where near as serious

Really hoping it's just the patella again. Real questions marks over our medicos though if it's the same injury. Was he rushed out to train before making a complete recovery?

Got really high hopes for ANB. I reckon his ceiling is enormous.

Toumpas has taken Watts spot as the new demonland wiping boy.

I think we need to give time, he has hart which will lead to pushing him self to succeed.

Whitfield, O'Rourke and Plowman were all taken before Toumpas and haven't shown that much either so far.

Just very frustrating that Stringer, Macrae and Wines have all shown so much and were taken right after the Toump. I think the benefit of patience and time will be kind to Jimmy, but it'd be nice to see something meaty from him before Roos departs... he's renowned for bringing out the best talent from his players, so if he can't...

I don't think Fitzy looks that skinny. Unless he's lost weight from last year.

OMFG, I thought we delisted Sam Blease?

Has someone got a face palm or just a head shaking gif for this?

Please just think a fraction longer before typing next time.

He works very hard which is evident in his training and is a credit to him (and makes him stand out at training). I just don't see that hard work transitioning to damaging football.

I can understand your concerns, but give the kid some time.

Think about his first couple of years with his hip injury, appendicitis and our coaching stuff ups, it's no wonder he has not grown as an AFL player.

Good luck with the 'think before typing' advice, Goag. Standard management for dislocated patella is to allow soft tissue recovery after the first one, build the strength back up, strap to protect the patella as best as possible, then send them back out there to see what happens. ANB has now re dislocated by all reports, so he'll have patella stabilisation surgery, of which there are a few methods, depending on any biomechanical predispositions he has. He'll be a few months gone whichever way it goes, so expect him back mid seasonish.

Thanks for the very informative post Webber. A shame for ANB but better to find out now, get it fixed and given this season is a delayed start, he will still have time to get fit again and play a reasonable chunk of games.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
