And what is your 3km PB, DD?

Why don't you try and run at 12km/h for 15 minutes on a treadmill, before saying it is quite slow!

I think you'd change your opinion pretty quickly. Remember that such a speed would be a minimum cruise mode for the players' to get around the ground when not near the contest.

I know dazzledavey36 from the Demonland/Demonology inter forum games and if he couldn't do 12-13 minutes for a 3k, I'd be surprised. Fifteen minutes is 5 minutes per kilometre pace. I could manage that and I'm 65.

Edit: I don't expect to be drafted any time soon.

Spoke to Ben Newton today as well, again another one who is just doing everything, enjoying it and feeling really fit, not much difference between MFC and Port training except Port train on a Saturday as well

My cousin plays for Casey and mentioned that he and other Casey players trained with the Melbourne squad on a Saturday prior to Xmas. So they do train on some Saturdays. Great to hear that our training standards are similar to Ports so we can't use the fitness excuse this year.

Love a challenge. You're on. Princes Park, 10am tomorrow. Look for the hairy, sweaty guy in shorts and a singlet and it'll be me.

It was Salem being funny, he was joking...sheesh...re Max King. they are really pushing him fitness wise, they are still building him, natural footballer, is a really good kick, and reads the play well, Jamar is looking after him, pushing him along, a good Roos project

Forgot to mention the Pig Dog is back in full training

Give it a go Saty.

I haven't done a lap for 40 years.

As mentioned, small group there today [although didn't attend whole sessiom].

Re match simulation, I was a bit unclear as to the rationale [of simulation]. The drills I watched had ten players attacking the goal with five [green vests] defending. What a surprise that the attacking players always found targets on their own and only rarely was the sherrin ever tutned over. Maybe i am missing something here but surely it would be better for both attackers and defenders to be more evely matched to acheive real 'match simulation'?

As per Mondays training I guess. It's classed as no contact simulation.

My PB for a 3km is 11:23 and im probably just borderline at a AFL standard midfielder. Wheres up here in the bush im basically top 3.

The fact and reality is 15 minutes in a 3km is very poor especially if your a midfielder at AFL level when they train 6 days a week full time. You seriously need to get with the times if you think that time is acceptable. . Supporters accepting mediocrity at its best.

I'm in Queensland at the moment but I'll do a 3k in the morning as long as it's not too hot. I'll post my time.

Max King looks fine in the skills area (from my limited views of him at training) but to me, his deficiency is with his tank. He is consistantly at the back of the group in running. I hope he gets there as a player as he seems worth persevering with.

I did from the corner of Hoddle St and Victoria Parade to Troy Music in Footscray in 59 minutes on my scoot, does that count?

How's job hunting going Sat? Any nibbles in your field of work?

I shudder to think what it is that is Saty's profession! :)

I did do 3km in about 13 mins on two months training having 0 base to start with. It is a crap time and certainly a joke.

Hopefully we have established that...

And that isn't a bad effort with 2 months work...

The NEAFL boys up here are all expected to get under 11 minutes, but if you are bigger and an important player you get an extra minute or two...

Struggled through the last kilometre but did it in 14.50. Have been walking and doing light jogs for three weeks after an otherwise light year.

Next time I'll take Saty's scooter.

Respect. It's been a long time since I could crack 15min for 3k. I use to run 50-60km per week for years until the knees retired.

I'm sure salem was taking the [censored]. I remember in 09 potential draftees were expected to push for a 10min, 3km.

Also heard Goodwin is a massive Salem fan and even believes he will be a top 5 player in the comp in 3-4. Personally I can't see it happening unless he is able to start finding more ball - but I'm not a good judge.. I thought Steve smith would never be a good test player.

In the oppressive humidity I went around Princes Park in a touch over 35 mins. Had to stop for a latte, helped a lovely young lady dress some blisters on her ankles and patted a couple of friendly poodles. Then I parked my car.

Wasn't there a post on here somewhere about attracting more members to these forums? It seems now we're trying to kill them off.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
