Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Must admit, always been a Coopers Red fan (will admit the best beer comes from crow-eater heartland), but this might make me switch...

Anybody who rates SA beer has no taste whatsoever.

Tassie beer is by far miles in front of any other.Boags probably being the best.

The trouble with coopers fans is they forget the below average beers most SA s drink.

One of the best meals I have ever eaten was at the Strahan pub in Tas.

A plate of locally ocean farmed atlantic salmon washed down with several pots of cascade.

Love Tassie beer, sadly don't drink beer much these days.

Although Santa managed to find me and left a Juan Lopez Canada and a bottle of 12 yr old single malt which is looking nice while I watch the cricket

I'm partial to Cascade, don't get me wrong, Boags is what it used to be or my taste buds moved on. This bottle brought a smile though.

A beer that honours the great Ivor Warne-Smith who won two Brownlow Medals for Melbourne must be worth drinking.

Pity they don't serve it in the Little Collins in Manhattan.

By the way, I didn't know this at the time but I live next door to the proprietor's grandmother.

Not only that, but I had lunch with his mother-in-law on the day we met for coffee.

And not only that, but his sister-in-law used to go out with one of our mods.

Small world.

Cheers

Love everything about Tassie: Wine, Food, Art, landscape, lifestyle! Would move there but too far from family, friends & Demon football games!

Not a beer drinker but always love a Cascade on a hot summer day!

Most of the big brand Aussie beers are crap. Coopers are just OK. I like their Pale Ale best. There is something wrong when a beer has to be served a couple of degrees shy of being frozen solid to make it drinkable. Nothing beats good German and other European beers that still taste delicious at dare I say a balmy 15 to 18c.

Of the higher profile brewers, I would rate James Squire ahead of Cascade, Boags and Coopers. But I prefer to try the smaller "boutique" (god I hate that description) beers that I stumble on in the bottle-o... not always great, but always an adventure with the occasional pay-off. Pear cider is another favourite these days.

Funny you say that, I'm born & bred in Strahan. Lived here my whole life. Hamers Hotel is the pub you're talking about!

It's only a 45 minute flight! Normally pick them up for anywhere between $49-$79! I did get a $19 flight with Jetstar once.

That would be it.

I have a paid a lot more and enjoyed the meal a lot less.

Heading to Tas in March again with the cheese and just might get over to Strahan again, love the place. Might even cast a lure.

If you want a good beer head to the Mountain Goat Brewery in Richmond on a Friday evening. Otherwise my beer of choice is Stone & Wood Pacific Ale from Byron Bay.

Great to see Cascade honour a Melbourne legend. Having said that Boags do produce much better beer, but the Moo Brew Brewery just outside Hobart is fantastic. $30 will buy you 8 stubbies from their collection of 6 (the hef was my favourite), an hour long tour and shoot some hoops at the end!

My favourite beer is Duvel followed by Pilsner Urquell, both of which I've had in their country of origin, but one of the best beers I've ever had was a Cascade Pale Ale in the Cascade Gardens in Hobart. Unbelievably fresh. Combined with the picturesque surrounds, it sticks out in the memory.

Little Creatures Brewery in Freo is another great option.

The Boags Brewery does a beer and cheese tasting at the end of their tour. Beer and cheese. Together at last.

Will have to check out Moo Brewery next time. Not a bad drop, although they ripped off the name from me and my mates. Our three home made products in college were Brew 62, Moo Brew and Leaf Brew. The first two have been ripped off by Coopers and Moo Brew respectively. We didn't fancy going through lengthy court proceedings so we let it slide, but the resentment lives on...

Your spot on about Boags. I was fortunate enough to experience that back in October this year. Was very enjoyable. Loved their Wizard Smith Ale which sadly isn't for purchase outside Tassie.

That sucks big one's re the names. And sadly your right, the cost of court proceeding sup front are very steep and then if you loose become life shattering.....

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
