Ok chaps, calm, I was there, a really good session including Andersons Hill for some, pics will be on Twitter Demonpk

Lots of drills today involving ball movement

Only no show was JKH

Spoke to Dean Kent, rehab nearly finished, leg is fine, just needs kicking again to test it out, other rehabbers Trengove, Terlich (who is going to resume full training after the break), Stretch, Spencer, Riley, Vandenberg and Watts (who seems to be able to run without discomfort,, gave me thumbs up on one of his many laps).

Gawn and McKenzie did whole session except Andersons

Had a chat to Mitchell White, very laidback off the track, considers himself to be a defender who can play on tall or small, still growing, thinks his playing weight will be around 90-92k, so another 'skinny'

Garland looked a lot better today, so obviously the program he is on is working

Also continuing the theme about the fitness being better, watched the Andersnn runs, when they did it at the beginning of November Max King looked like was about to die at the end, today he finished strongly

The run consists of a long run of 2-300 metres starting at the bottom, they then do 3 40 metres spirints about half way up the hill then repeat, the talk amongst the group whilst they are recovering is excellent

Would you say anyone is really struggling out there, TDI?

No, that's the other good thing, have a look at some of the photos from the hill run on Twitter, nobody holding back, also the 'professional' approach to the injuries etc, Harmes who had glandular fever, which really knocks you around, did the whole session today except the hill run, back at his playing weight and feeling really fit, praised the program he was put on

Thanks mate, from memory we've always had someone just not up to par but now looks like we actually have some depth!

Jack Grimes, Howie and Jack Viney have all said the same thing, hence Howie's comment about hoping to be just in the 22, one of the reasons Jack Grimes gave up the captaincy, obviously Roos has made it clear it is a new season and it doesn't matter who you are he will pick the in form players who play their role

Shannon Byrnes is looking forward to playing at Casey because there might be a half decent team down there with those who are not in the 22, very impressed with the new young guys

TDI - we've had all the happy videos about the "Mac Bros" together again, ANB and Stretch, Petraccca and Brayshaw etc. Can we find out when the Dawes & Lumumba ("best mates video") is coming out from Matt Burgan? ...seriously how do those two get along?

At the moment think H is keeping his head down, seems to have the respect of everybody though, is a really nice guy to speak to, Dawes is Dawes, some days he is the big angry bear, other days is all smiles, doesn't seem to have a problem with H, haven't seen them walking hand in hand though

Not to be critical but TDI has never said a bad word about an MFC player, and wouldn't admit if any of them were training poorly

So its pointless to ask him questions like that

so then... you are being critical ?

(sorry H_H but any statement that begins with "not to be critical" ranks with those other wonderful sentence openers I don't want be to rude, don't take this the wrong way, with all due respect and my favourite, I don't want to sound racist/sexist/creepy/deranged however....)

Two things I've noticed about this year's training by comparison with previous years:

1/- there is no jogging between exercises. It's all done at high pace and an apparent sense of urgency. HL is a big exponent of this.

2/- Hogan is not only big, strong & capable, he also has attitude - even with team mates. I am keen to see how this transfers to match day and particularly how he responds when mongrel defenders get at him. I suspect he'll sort them out.

Roll on 2015.

Not when I am asked a direct question, I was concerned about Col Garland, but rather than bag him, I asked, and found out the reasons he looked a bit off at training, so I will put it this way, no player would dare look slack at the moment, and none of them are, even Bernie Vince is trying to up the ante when he is not supposed to

Going the few games at Casey I watched he doesn't take any rubbish from anyone.

I think Grimes realised that a consistent starting position would be based around results - and to get results Jack don't need distractions.

I hope Jack Grimes can lift his game and remain in the 22, but he does have A LOT of ground to make up.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    TRAINING: Wednesday 11th December 2024

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
