After reading an article in today's Herald Sun, I've come to the realisation that a lot of Melbourne supporters are looking at something the wrong way.

I believe ... that after being at the Melbourne Football Club for six minutes, the Judd-like future Brownlow Medallist named Tom Scully had fallen so in love with the place that he decided to make the ultimate sacrifice to set up the next dominant era of success for the club. By sadly allowing Melbourne to release him to GWS, Melbourne initially netted picks 4 and 13 in the 2011 draft.

Firstly, this allowed the Dees to snare the Messiah Hogan and Dom Barry but the follow on affects where huge. By accepting a $1mil x 6 year deal and proceeding to play horrible football at his new club, hampering their rapid rise up the ladder, he stopped GWS from being able to afford to retain talented kids, allowing Melbourne to strike and snare a deal netting us superstar Dom Tyson and future gun Christian Salem. Also by selflessly rejecting way overs of $900k a year from the Dees as he knew we could use it better, he allowed salary cap space to snare Bernie Vince and now Heritier Lumumba to help guide this new era.

I'd just like to thank Tom for sacrificing that Brownlow at Melbourne, and bringing into the club Hogan, Tyson, Salem, Vince, Lumumba.

Not many would throw away a career so recklessly, but he sure made a very loyal selfless decision.

I know you're probably just taking the [censored] but if your 99.9999999999% delusional then don't think for a second that Tom Scully did anything for the benefit of this once great club. He's a selfish [censored] that looked after #1. He would have left if the Dees had received Morton, 426, Molan and Cook in return for him.

I think you make a good point and one that has been overlooked in that Scully's pay packet could be hindering them in a way that we have now taken advantage of.

Interesting.

I'm still angry at the little rat for lying to me out the front of the G when I asked him the question if he was going.

I'm still angry at the little rat for lying to me out the front of the G when I asked him the question if he was going.

I knew he was gone after the round 8 2011 loss v's North at Etihad, a game he was out injured.

About half an hour before the game, I found a parking spot right next to Scully, as he was getting out of his car.

Right after the siren I walked back to the car park to get the hell out of there after another crap loss, and upon returning to my car, Scully's car had already left.

I know it was only a little thing, but it showed to me that his heart wasn't in it with the MFC and I was convinced he was gone at that point.

As Packer said of Alan Bond after selling him Channel 9 for a Billion in the 80s, "you only get one Alan Bond". Likewise we'll only get one GWS Scully deal, and it's been working out very well for us... :)

The giveaway was that his car was a Ferrari and he was still on 2nd year draftee wages with us.

Complains about Melbourne's professionalism and culture.

Melbourne now have Paul Roos.

GWS have Heath Shaw and Toby Greene.

Doesn't cop nearly as much as he should in the media for being a 6 million dollar dud.

It has started

Another year like 2014 and the wolves will descend.

The obsession with Scully is alarming, get over him ffs.

Completely agree.

It's not as though we have lost a star. We could not meet his exorbitant salary.

And is anyone prepared to give up Hogan and Toumpas.

We dodged a bullet with Scully. The club has moved on. So should its supporters

Who is Tom $cully?

Some of you people need to get over yourselves. If Tom had his time again, I'm sure he would do things a little differently, but you can hardly blame the guy for making a decision to set himself up for life. Particularly in an industry in which the average career lasts for about 4 years.

Why should he have any loyalty to the MFC, particularly when we all knew the place was a basketcase? He is a professional footballer who had the misfortune to be drafted by the club at its lowest point.

As if any of you would not take the money and run if someone tried to poach you from your current employer with a guaranteed 6 year deal at 4x your market wage.

Heck if you want to really draw a long bow you could claim dom Barry=Oscar McDonald now and scullys huge salary stopped gws being able to afford to keep frost aswell.

Not to mention the increased food budget to keep his dad happy! That alone will just about bankrupt the team!

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
