Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

In terms of style (not ability), maybe a combination of Pendlebury & Jake Stringer?

Yes on pendlebury, no on Stringer.

Very silky half forward mid who would just add that huge element of class we lack outside but can also play inside as well.

Could see him starting his career off on a half forward/wing. His style reminds me of Nick Dal Santo.

One of the things I want to see more of is consistency with his medium to long kicking. Generally goes for the high percentage short target, but when going for a longer target gives it a bit too much air and doesn't always go for the best option.

His play in close quarters has been very good. Composed in traffic and seems to have a bit more time in close, hence the Pendlebury comparison. Can play effectively on the flanks and take a strong mark overhead. They compared him (on Future Stars) to Bartel in this regard, which isn't a bad call.

Wines, Martin and Brayshaw - all dual sided. That is why they are so damn good.

Because they are effective on both sides of the body, they also spread either side, it really opens the game up for them.

I haven't seen any player this year in that mould.

MFC is well positioned in the draft, we either take the best KP who slips through the net - given that KPs are touted top 3 picks (Schache, Weitering and Francis), or.. We instead decide to take the best mid in the draft - whoever that may be. Personally, I would take the best KP early, then take Lovell - or Gresham if he slipped - with our next pick.

agreed KDA dual sided runing players.

* grab Hendo via a trade & $$$$$

* Aish or other 2nd-3rd Yr kid

* & try to snare Weideman from the draft

* Henderson play CHF, with Hogan leading up from the goal square & Frost or Fitz from the pocket.

* a Weideman type is crucial to our future: if we were to get a key injury to a Hogan, or he went west? we need an understudy NOW. King may, or may not, but he's in the Fitzy/Frost production line

.......................

maybe use our 1st pick on an Aish or someone unhappy, or Henderson.... trade out a player or two for picks, & re-use the picks on a Henderson or other in the draft, like a Weideman?

If we could get a pick 5 for one of our players (or maybe it'll be a later in the round), use one of our picks for Hendo, & draft a mid. (it could take Howe, & a Pederson, Dawes, Gawn, or an early 3rd Rnd pick accompaniment)

Did you read what I said? In a shallow draft that scenario is a pretty good situation. They will use this years 3rd round pick to upgrade it where as many other clubs will not even use 3rd round picks. The state of the draft is giving them an extra advantage by making currency for them when it's not there.

2013 was a similarly shallow draft with not a lot of talent after the top 40 picks. Imagine if instead of drafting Jayden Hunt we got to combine that years and the next years 3rd round picks for a player rated at pick 20.

I like the new bidding system, but it's very generous to allow multiple bid matches per year which in a shallow draft really doubles the advantage.

this is why I don't like the bidding system...

I prefer each club has its own zone to develop, & have a running 16Yr old+ Scholarship Squad, adding 2 or 3 new kids each season onto the squad, & being allowed to take Scholarship Squad kids, & Father/Son kids, Pre Draft... with a maximum of 3 Pre-Draft picks in any one season, per club.

this helps with tribalism in footy, aiding local kids to stay local; & for loyalty Via Father/Son kids...

.....then after the Pre-Drafts, an open bidding system for any other development squad kids eligible for the current Draft pool.

Francis or Weidman look to be the go at this stage, could do with more tall forwards/defenders. May have to replace (trade more like it) Watts, both have heart. Also Dawes may not be safe. By the end of the year I may change my opinion.

Two years ago I thought Cripps and Sheed would be good pick ups. Does anybody know about Brett Lovetts young son i.e Ht,Wt,preferred position and what about the younger Viney brother…..

I want us to get a mobile power key position forward who marks & rucks around the ground & is a very good field kick as our 2nd ruck option for the future... a crash bang type in the mold of Clark Keating, or the older version David Schwarz...

I feel like Weideman could be this type???

there's every chance that mills and weideman are the players with the greatest potential to be stars in this year's draft crop. one is just a consummate midfield mover, and the other has a genuine 'presence' a bit like hogan - his read on the ball and ability to position himself in the contest to mark it is, according to the scouts, first rate.

can't see him dropping out of the first 5-10 by the time the draft comes around; if he can get back and play the back half of the tac cup or excel at the camp, he could push himself right up into top handful contention.

Id love to get Weidemann

We need another legit talented key forward , and he sounds ready made like Hogan. I think we have stocked up on mids and drafted well the last couple of years, we can take a KPP with our first rounder and go for more mids with our other picks.

I can't find any vision on Weiderman, but I was speaking to a young player I know who swears Weiderman is the best kid in the draft.

So I'd be interested to find vision of him, he'd certainly be around our pick. I agree with you 100% that we need another KP. We do have mids.

I think we'll get a decent mid with our second pick. I think Lovell or Gresham are as talented as any other mid in the draft, and either could be available at our second pick.

Mids, mids and more mids, thank you very much

Sorry 'moon', I think that's an old call now. We need some more class mids that's for sure and some good run and carry.

If you look at last weeks game though we got our fair share of inside 50's but the ball came out way too easily. We need another good forward to help Hogan and Garlett desperately. Dawes is not the answer.

Currently doing part time development work with the under 16s Murray Bushrangers and i am bias here but Josh Schache would be your man.

Massive endurance and uses it well. If it one player who i would compare him to its Travis Cloke but with a much deadly kick! He slots them from anywhere. Big lump of a lad and if the opportunity to pick him we would be Crazy not to select him.

A Hogan/Schache combo would be an absolute jizz fest.

Brett Anderson's latest big board: Our draft board takes shape

I'm fairly comfortable in saying well be well placed to get a good player with our first two picks (remembering that the academy clubs may well have their second round picks wiped out). We may or may not take a live third round pick to the draft, but perhaps someone worthwhile will slide through.

I currently rate around 30-35 players in the pool as easily draftable. Very much a crap shoot after that.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
