Where do we finish on the ladder next year?

I hope we win games early and get confidence and momentum, something we've not had since about 2006.

If we do, perhaps we can finish about 10th. Can't go from second last to top 8 in a year IMO.

That would be the stuff of Hollywood - and I don't believe in Hollywood.

But it exists. It's where your avatar comes from.

You must believe!

you have a point for the 1% of cases where there is any possibility of some sort of litigation

for the other 99% you have no point.

Give us an example of the 99%. Enlighten.

And how is it that I have been here in this one incarnation for 7 years, and have never been a moderator, and don't feel this oppression and archaic censorship?

I think our list has been improved in the post season, as has the coaching panel (George Stone excluded obviously) and presumably also the players' understanding and ability to execute Roos' game plan/structures.

We literally stole losses from the jaws of victory against Port and the Bulldogs last year. In a sense, we should've had 6 wins last year.

All things going well, and with the improvements to the list etc, I am hoping for about 10 wins next season.

7-9 in my opinion

I'd like to agree with this. There is no way we are going backwards where others next season indicate they are dropping off. Of course you have to remember Port, and not so long ago the yo-yo years. Not to mention there are always surprises in the ladder and I just hope this year it'd us.

It all depends on how our 2nd and third year player performs next year, will they take the next step, or backwards, in the last 5 years they have gone backwards, odd's are that has to change sooner other than later. Player like Kent, thoumpas, T. McDonald, jkh, Salam, must take next step.

Wow - another "make a guess" thread which is manna from heaven for both the optimists ('top 4') and the pessimists ('bottom, we are crap').

To the pessimists who have us 18th - we aren't absolutely certain that WADA won't step in after the AFL issue their 'non-penalty' against a certain drug cheating club and ensure that it is a 17 team competition.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
