Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Are you kidding? Taylor was a star at U/18 level.

He hasn't skipped a beat stepping up to AFL.

Don't know who you were watching, but Lewie Taylor has been a star for a long time.

His carnival had him bolt up the phantom drafts. Most had him going 10-12.. Presumably only his height was the reason everyone overlooked him. He's well and truly showed those recruiters though.

Ya gotta love this place. People who have never actually seen a player play watch a highlights reel and decide who they want to draft. That's like 5 good things out of 300. Thats what Barrett does. Come on we're better than that aren't we. Please someone comment who has actually seen him play a few times.

It's a football forum.

What on earth do you expect?

It's part of the fun. Trying to guess who will be a great player based on a highlights reel.

It's what our recruiters have done all century. Why can't we use the same methods as those highly skilled individuals?

Lewis Taylor{yes that lewis taylor}showed bugger all in the local league,And not much at u18s.

Had his season ruined by leg injury, which everybody was told would kill his draft chances and his 1st preseason.

Its chooklotto, with coaches like PR,rather eager to buy used products.

When he drafts a kid,he generally looks at athletic types.

The foot injured contributed to the slide, as did the fact it was a very good draft with 20-30 really nice prospects so clubs weren't going to spend too highly on a little fella.

But read the following and you'll see Taylor was rated exceptionally highly and was one of the best junior footballers in the land.

Taylor had an interupted u18 champioship due to leg injury.

In his best first year player speech,he went on to say he hardly did any preseason, before starring for the bears.

Maybe im thinking of a different lewis taylor, but feel welcome to check those facts.

The point i was actually answering is PR drafts athletes, not named u18 stars.

Lewy was also close to BOG as a bottom ager against SA in 2012. If he was 5 - 8 cm taller he probably goes top 5 in 2013.

More champs highlights from before the ACL injury (as a bottom-aged in 2013):

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-12-13/lever-pulled-on-jakes-year

going by that footage, his kicking leaves a bit to be desired. Plus he hasn't had many more opportunities to improve on it, given his knee reco (so i wouldn't have that he would have improved his kicking all that much).

He definitely likes to run and rebound, needs to clean up his kicking and decision making, though.

Its a Yes from me... Grab him at 3

Melbourne can go for anyone they like at pick 3 except Lever.

He's done his knee and there is a high risk he could do it again. He would have to be as talented as Schwarz for us to even contemplate such a risky decision.

He sounds like Grimes not a lot going for him except he is a fantastic leader.

We have been given a gift at pick 3 we shouldn't [censored] on it.

Would you rather Mitch Thorp or Joel Selwood?

Jake Stringer or Jimmy Toumpas?

Your point being what exactly?

Selwood had degenerative knees. They said he'd never play passed a few seasons. Thorp was physical fine.

Stringer had a broken leg and was meant to not even play AFL whilst he got his fitness up until his second preseason. He was good from debut. Toumpas had some routine hip surgery but it wasn't meant to hamper him.

My point is you shouldn't read too much in to junior injuries. Almost all players suffer injuries if they play long enough. Juddy's groins. Hird's face and feet. Lenny Hayes' knee. Reiwoldts knees. Roughead's achilles. Buckley's hamstrings.

It sounds like we wont go Lever. But I'd hate to miss out on another champ based on a flawed theory.

Selwood's name always pops up when it comes to injuries but he didn't have a knee reco. Alex Johnson and Troy Menzel have done it 4 times, Morabito 3 times and Gawn twice they are harder to get over.

Toumpas name threw me because he was injury prone as well a he missed half of the year with his injured hips. I thought that they weren't expecting much from him due to his injured hips and he was a project player and they were in it with him for the long haul. They were never going to pick him up if they were looking for a ready made player.

I don't know why Toumpas was rated so highly by the experts? He's too slow for an outside midfielder, he wasn't any good as a 17 year old except he had a good finals series and injured for half the year as an 18 year old.

Had a chat with a mate who is involved with the doggies. He says that Lever is one of their top picks for this draft and if they had our picks they would be taking Lever and Wright. They really rate them both as hard trainers who are constantly trying to improve. I think it's been said on here before that Roos really likes Lever as well, so there's a good chance we could be seeing him at three. Could be a very handy pick up for us.

Lever is not on our shortlist for picks 2 and 3 and won't be there at 40. So, we can cease posting in this thread, I always thought he was a hack with dodgy knees anyway.

Actually you're wrong, he is one the club is definitely considering.

Source: an ex player/champion of the club, in the know, said so. Which I posted a few weeks back.

I have no doubt we would have been looking at him, perhaps as recently as a few weeks back. But Mahoney himself has publicly volunteered Petracca, Brayshaw, McCartin and Wright as the final 4 on our shortlist. He has no reason to be lying through his teeth, as St.Kilda are the only team to pick ahead of us and all the players will be gone by our next pick.

There would be very little discussion on any prospective draftee were comments to be limited to those who have actually witnesses the guy play in the flesh.

Perhaps we could do a poll - who of those who post here have actually seen any of these wannabes play live?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
