If Roos was really going so hard down this route, wouldn't he have tried to fit Malceski into the trade as well? We would've had a lot of leverage considering Sydney only got pick 39 as compensation...

Just thinking out loud.

Would have lowered Frawley compo I believe.

I'm glad the club is going hard after star players, but you'd hope they have some backup plans for another "Tyson deal".

Yes, Yes and Yes.

Do I need to open a thread of all the top 5 pick that have not made it at AFL level to make people on here realize this is a great deal?

I can start with 3 on our list to start with and add 4 past top 5 pick that have not work for us.

Secondly wish people would get behind the club. Were losing picks 2 and 3, a gamble, were not losing JPK, we are GETTING him. Watt, Toumpas, Trengove, etc etc, these are the players you are losing. No guarantee with them, and we should know all about that

However most importantly, this is a brownlow favourite every year. A grand finalist every year.Everyone says we dont have A-Graders, well here is one, and to get him on our position you do what you can. If we are going to start fighting against the big team bias that comes with FA, and fight against the dis-equalisation of FA, we need to do what we can to get the guys like Kennedy

Players like Kennedy are what will keep players like Frawley and Jones at this club. Players like Kennedy are what attracts the players like Dangerfield to the club. We dont get these guys any other way. Its time we started making things happen for ourselves

It looks like we had a better plan to get him, and after that fell through, Roos had a decision to make. And he decided againt crying about the set backs of clark and trengove, and go out and do it himself.

Lets hope this is true

By the way RD, I much preferred my subtle method of posting pictures of JPK, in addition to manipulating riddles so they resulted in his name.

But whatever floats your boat, you are definitely more game than I am!

Kennedy been talked about for a while. Yesterday I was led to believe he and Danger were every chance. Hence my BS entry into the Demonland poetry competition.

Kennedy aint happening guys.

Is anything happening?

At this point swapping pick 198 for pick 197 sounds more exciting than this constant roller coaster of emotions.

Not if he was traded.

You're right, but have we seen a 'sign-and-trade' type deal in the AFL since the beginning of free agency? I can't recall

Posted

Not so sure that the Saints are going to take Petracca (and before I get shot down, this is only an opinion). I think they showed their hand a little bit with their over excitement of the news Boyd wanted a trade to the Dogs and joined the race within 2mins of it coming out! Knowing they would have to part with the number 1 pick to get him shows me they are desperate for a key forward. Only a thought.

No Jade, I don't believe much is happening at all.

A wonderful, loyal young man has seen his world (and foot) fall apart. That world was the crux of many a plan.

I'm speculating now, but would have to be a mad scramble to get anything noteworthy done.

For a decision a rumour suggested the club will make tomorrow at 3pm?

The merits of the non-trade can be non-discussed in this non-forum without the non-club falling apart.

It's called debate and the internet thrives on it...

Debate and porn.

Just to play devils advocate.

Pick 2 and 3 is overs but Kennedy is a seriously good player. With my limited viewing of the draft kids available none of the top echelon look a sure star except for maybe Petracca. This is not about us not developing our own but assessing the risk of what the draft pool holds and how far and how quickly they could be developed. I would also consider how this may assist our current kids development. Imagine how this would fast track the development of Tyson and Viney with JK sharing the centre square.

I love the romanticism of drafting our own star and hope we can hold one of these and spin that deal but if that is what it is we will improve markedly next year.

In Roos we trust.

Not if he was signed by Sydney then traded. Wouldn't have been a free agency move but a trade.

Port did this cleverly with a few trades over the last few years.

Funny how he has mentioned this yet 5 pages later he has still hasn't commented since or mentioned a source..

Like a previous poster said, Roos has stated he wouldn't give up Picks 2 & 3 for Danger so I would've thought it's doubtful he'll be doing it for JPK.

Kennedy this year

Danger next year.

This is the type of trading that will make this club great again.

Not waiting five years for kids to develop.

Everyone thought Scully, Watts , Trengove etc... Were going to be the saviours.

Not for me......I'd rather one Ready made A grader! than six kids with "potential" , he is gonna be a star types....yeah, heard it all before.

Where has it got us?

Where we are now , that's where.

Doing the same thing over and over again is the definition of madness.

Roos knows we need to learn from our mistakes.

I doubt whether our entire drafting strategy was reliant on a deal for a player with major injury concerns.

Just thinking out loud.

Too old, too expensive.

We still have to get draft picks in and develop them otherwise we won't have depth. So far we've only got Stretch. Whatever we do with picks 2, 3 or 23 I think we need at least a pick in the top 30 and another one in the top 50 (either for Frost or for another kid if we take Frost in the PSD) to try and find some more young players as well.

It's just impossible to give up assets to sign big name players each year and significantly improve.

I believe he knows someone working in membership. Called Frawley and Vince early

Still think the only midfielder we might be able to convince to come to us is Coniglio. There just aren't many players available at the moment unless you count delisted players. I think that we will look at Petrenko and/or Clint Jones. Our midfield needs more depth so we have to draft for that.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
