Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off

My missus will have to find a new favorite player, she loves Trengove because of the two moles on his face...yeh I know..weird !

hmmn, lucky guy

All he is... is yet another victim of the pathetic management that brought this club to its knees for years on end with absolute mindbogglingly awful decisions.

Roos would be completely sympathetic to the situation he's in, all because the idiots running the joint simply didn't have a clue. Poor kid did NOT deserve all the pressure that was heaped on his shoulders, and that sure as hell wouldn't have happened with people like PJ and PR running the joint.

The sad reality is they weren't, and we have to make hard decisions to improve our team. It might end up being the best thing for him if he can flourish next year at another club and play finals. He's earned it.

This is cr*p.

Its Jay Clark FFS in the herald SUn making stories up.

Settle down. Trading ins over for the week. He's going nowhere.

In fairness to Jay Clark, he does have quotes from Mahoney in his article.

I go away for the week and this happens ...... Stunned.

He stood by us.

Away from the computer to receive my jumper for winning the flag with my team up here and come back to this?

Jeez...

Makes me feel ill.

Trengove running around with Dusty with Jake King watching on?

I just threw up in my mouth.

This better work.

I know good culture - this hurts, they better Get.This. Right.

He's not going there "no matter what" - Collingwood have said the deal with Brisbane is dead in the water because the Lions won't make an offer that is satisfactory.

I don't mean Brisbane the team, i mean Queensland. He'll find his way there.

You missed the quote from the club in the article?

Not only do I not want to see Jack go, I choke on the thought of letting Coll have 2 first round picks! 3 and 12 is vastly different to the Lions offer of 5 and 23! I just choke on the thought that Coll benefit so much from being bloody-minded in trading. Would almost rather it be any other team that benefits from 3 and 12!

Beams isn't worth 2 first round picks in his own right...what's more he had his own injury problems - he was out in Aug when they thought he had done his PCL. Turned out he didn't but who knows if his injury problem will return.

If it has to happen maybe 3 & 12 for Beams and Lumumba!!

3 and our second rounder beats Brisbanes offer, 2 and 12 could be enough to get Danger.

Imagine both of them.

Unless he wants to take a pay cut and play for Southport Sharks I'm not sure how that's gonna happen.

Will Trenners ever be as good as Beams? Is it crucial to the development of the list and club in general that we get the A grader in now, or in a couple of years time when you'd like to think we'd be pressing for a finals berth?

Trengove knows how to play the game and is still a young bloke. This potential trade offers little risk because Beams is a gun but the unknown of Jacks ability to overcome injury and become an A grader himself is what vexes me.

Gold Coast or he'll take Collingwood to court.

Trengove dominated in this pre-season game against the Tigers ... I remember thinking he was back in business and commented as such at the time... maybe they thought the same?

Match report and stats ... Melbourne 1 13 11 98 defeated Richmond 1 10 15 84

Trenners ... 29 disposals ... 13 marks ... ran to position well all night and was arguably best on ground ... only 8 months ago.

So often a team will go after a player who plays well against them. This bloke could burn us if we let him go. There are others who I'd let go before him.

Was that the game where we all thought we were going to be the next port power this season but only finish second last by seasons end?

So what does that say about the competition on that day?

I cared little about the result and that was never my point

Trengove dominated

Why do you think the Tigers have made an offer?

A bit different mate. We [censored] canned McDonald, Woey's time was up. Sometimes we supporters get far too attached to players, they are just employees in a competitive market now.

This is the sad reality of it now.

During the last few years me and my kids have had numbers 32, 22, 24, 11 and 9 on our jerseys.

It very bloody hard trying to explain to the kids why this all happens.

I am at the point where I'm not going to have a fav player cause it seems they all leave for one reason or another.

Lucky for me my kids like #7 so here hoping.

Otherwise this is like us shafting Junior.

Surprised no-one has mentioned it earlier.

Above and beyond ability, there's "culture". Roos is, apparently, very big on culture, so it comes as a surprise, given Trengove's position and past. He's not quite at Junior levels, but still ...

Perhaps post-Grimes and Jones, the club sees the future leadership group being built more around Viney than Trengove, or even, that Trengove is just too tied to a past that we're having trouble moving on from.

Interesting one. Hugely mixed feelings myself, but we need to let this play out to see where we end up. Things are changing, that's for sure. As if losing Mitch for next to nothing after he'd done his Lazarus wasn't enough, or having Frawley move simply because he can (and get more money) ... The new face of professional football?

The classic Hail Mary play. This isn't The Mighty Ducks.

Take back what i was saying, just read an article on it. Obviously it's Buckley if they're considering trading him anywhere.

Dangerfield for Picks 2 and 12

Beams for picks 3 and 21

Gold Coast or he'll take Collingwood to court.

Haha besides the fact Gold Coast won't be able to come up with a suitable trade, on what basis would he be taking the Pies to court? He is contracted with them and he is the one who needs to honour that contract unless someone comes up with a trade suitable to Collingwood. Of course he can move to Queensland if he really wants but don't expect to get over half a mill a year because you won't be playing footy unless Brisbane or Gold Coast offer up a trade that is fair/acceptable to the Pies.

The future leadership of the club after Jones rests on Viney and Tyson. Can comfortably see those two leading us into finals in 4 years time.

I'm hoping it's merely a ploy to demonstrate to other clubs that we're prepared to sell our soul for the right trade for our high picks ...

... only to keep our soul and land the trade anyway.

And that Trengove is in on it.

I'd rather field the Mighty ducks.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
