Is he not a restricted free agent seeing he is out of contract? No need to throw picks at it if the money is right i would have thought

No he's not. You still have to get to 8 years service to be a free agent, otherwise he's just an out of contract player, similar to Mitch Clark.

If we get trades for class players with our high pick/s then I wouldn't be keen on Greenwood. If we can't secure other mature talent besides Lumumba then I'd gladly trade our second rounder for Greenwood.

greenwood is miles ahead of aiden riley.

You've missed the pont.

I'm saying Greenwood is thriving thanks to the midfield talent and depth at North.

He is a contested ball winner without damaging disposal although he managed a few goals this year.

I'm saying that once we have a core group of reliable, talented and functioning midfielders, we'll have our own second-tier players who will start to standout more.

You're comparing two second rate midfielders without acknowledging the advantages that one has over the other.

Riley was merely an example anyway.

Ummm... Did you actually watch there last few matches? I'd say Norths midfield talent is thriving because of Greenwood... North throw him in the middle so they could release Ziebell forward and he dominated the clearances... He completely changed Norths game... Before they moved him there nobody gave North a chance of winning the the elimination final, let alone the semi... If the form he is in becomes consistent, then he is one of there best mids easily... I'd give up pick 3 for Greenwood, Atley and 16

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Wants more $$$ but does one good season warrant a big payday? We have the cash to offer, and could be a viable option for us. Greenwood easily cracks our midfield on this years form. But, we could we be paying overs in salary given one good season?

If Roosey strikes out trading for your Dangerfield types and other big names then offering 500k to get Greenwood still meets his objective of improving our midfield.

Interesting times ahead.

He should be on Melbourne's radar. Tough inside player that can spread hard at the contest. His disposal efficiency isn't terrible? and managed to get a fair bit of ball through the midfield. Defs would add to our midfield depth and be able to rotate on the forward flanks too.

Laughable, no way!

Levi Greenwood and Pick 16 (NMFC 1st round) = MFC pick 3 (Frawley compo?) ???????

i could've sworn that draft order was determined at the end of home and away - when did it become determined by actual finishing position on the ladder at the end of the season?

Uummmmmmmmmmmm..............Like always.

Well if you ask a lot of Norf supporters on BF, Greenwood is worth a top-5 pick by himself...

I love this time of year, it's the annual pissing contest between North, Collingwood and Essendon supporters to see who can best overrate their mediocre talent.

Ave 25 touches a game, 5.4 marks, 4.4 tackles and kicked 16.18 for the year.

Jordie Mckenzie ave 14.4 touches, 3 tackles and kicked 0.2. One of those behinds being ten metres out directly in front.

Greeneood had a pretty good finals series and would be a handy pick up.

So, our Co Captain missed a set shot from 3 metres out on a 45 degree angle in the NT game this year against Port.

So?........if Jordie is getting a regular game next year we have not moved forward as a club.

NM enquired about Watts some years ago.

I hope they enquire about him this season. I'd take Greenwood for Watts every day of the week. Sadly, North probably wouldn't.

All you need to do now is text SEN you have a source and he told you that......

Coming off his best year so far. Really good young mid. Hope he fits Roos' plan and we chase him. If Waite and Higgins go to Norf, they are likely to have serious cap pressure.

I would much rather we spend pick 21 (or whatever it ends up being) on a player like Greenwood, than Lumumba. Greenwood is on the rise and is a genuine midfielder, whilst Lumumba's best football is four years behind him and flankers are a dime a dozen.

Interesting observation re their respective career stages and playing positions. Makes one think hard about him >>> O'Brien.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
