Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

If we don't get any deals done with pick 2 or 3 then definitely draft Brayshaw and Petracca. Along with Viney, Tyson, Toump, Salem and the continued support of N.Jones and Vince, our midfield will be set for many years to come,

I like your optimism but this has been the party line for nearly a decade. What if Brayshaw and Petracca are the next Sylvia and McLean? Or Scully and Trengove?

I think we need to trade at least one of the picks out, maybe both.

id prefer to find trades for the picks. theres players there, just gotta dig around.
Im sure Roos has some tricks up his sleevies.

He doesn't want too many kids, we know this.

I reckon the biggest problem with our list is a lack of high end talent. Not so much maturity. There's just too many players who will never be all that good.

With that in mind I'm big on taking 2 & 3 to the draft. Try and bring in some experience with later picks.

I'm inclined to think Roos isn't dumb enough to spend all year talking to Danger in the hope he'll come over, at the expense of another 20 or so valuable mids he could more easily convince to join us. Just need a few more days to see what happens.

What about trying to get Jack Steven? If Dangerfield won't bow to our offer and my threats that is.

Saints would have pick 1 and 2or3 to do whatever the [censored] they want with and feel like king dick.

We get a gun mid at a ripe age. Errrbody happy.

Yeah, could very easily be a smokescreen for someone else.

Yep, the smokescreen theory seems more likely at this stage.

And wouldn't surprise me if the pick 3 compo was indeed set in stone months ago, regardless of Frawley's contract.

Agreed. PJ's "priority pick" application. ;)

There is a chance we might trade picks 2&3 for a multitude of players and picks. History tells us that there are some very good players found in the draft right up to pick 40 ... sometimes further on. Identifying them is the hard bit.

A lot might depend on how many on our current list are delisted or traded out. I've a feeling we might trade out at least a couple of players who we ordinarily might have kept in previous years. Sometimes you just have to change things up to give yourself a chance to get better.

We'll probably keep either pick 2 or 3 to use in the draft but it wouldn't surprise me if we traded both picks. I would be surprised if we didn't trade at least one of those picks (another Tyson/Salem type deal beckons)

Ordinarily, it's difficult to bring in 4 or 5 ready to go "best 22" players but with the trading power that these picks gives us, that scenario is possible. Last year we brought in Tyson, Vince & Cross who were ready to go and with the extra top end draft pick that we have this time around, we might be able to bring in at least another 3 likely types. Riley & Michie were in the same sort of category but obviously not as prominent.

It promises to be a fascinating couple of weeks for the club.

We could end up with more than one pick or a higher pick for Clark, that one will be interesting. The club is not rolling over now as Geelong have found and Collingwood are not going to milk too high a pick as they did for Dawes with H.

It's going to be a very different list by the end of the draft period. I still think there may be some movement from GWS.

Yes, fascinating times ahead 'Macca'.

I think by the end of Roos' final trade period, our team will just about be totally unrecognisable from the team he inherited. I expect us to gain 4 or so ready-to-go types this off season and the same again next off season. That will mean he'll have added almost a full 18 to play for him in his final season in charge. Given Roos' record with trading and drafting, I'm quietly hopeful of an exciting 2016. I'm hopeful we'll win 8 or so next season, but that may depend on whether or not we can land a big fish this trade period.

Really? There's no guarantee that high draft picks have that high level talent. Cale Morton, Tom Scully, Jack Trengove, Jack Watts and multiple examples at other clubs bear this out. Surely it would be good to bring in some tried and true talent!

I expect some surprises 'rjay' but the template was set last year. It's early doors but last year was a real step up from previous years (in terms of our overall recruiting) Last off season we brought in a cross section of young prospects, some talented players in their early 20's and a couple of senior players. More of the same could be expected.

Roos will still draft at least a few young prospects (4?) I believe we have to have at least 3 "live" picks anyway but I think I'm right in saying that Stretch is already one of those 3.

Have faith in Taylor. He's not Barry "I don't want to watch games of football in case I make a mistake" Prendergast.

I don't understand why people think St.Kilda desperately need McCartin but we don't? Dawes kicked only 20 goals and Frawley has left, we need a key forward.

We were very lucky to get Tyson, if he wasn't always injured we probably never would have got him. Chances of being that lucky again would be remote.

They'll be seriously re-thinking trading off pick 1 if they were secretly hoping to get McCartin, Jansck and O'Rourke in exchange for giving up pick 1.

If we do trade off pick 3 to the Bulldogs, they'll be at the mercy of whoever they choose at pick 3. I don't know enough about McCartin/Wright to determine who might be better, but the former is compared to Jesse Hogan by Sheehan in this:

We'll now they can only have either petracca or McCartin, and can't downgrade with GWS. If I was them I'd offer us a good player and their second round pick for pick 3, then they can have both.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
