Good get - Bomber scathing of Adelaide this morning.

Well, Sando was an assistant to Bomber through his great run at Geelong, and have been very close since.

Bomber's a little bit nuts, but he's mostly loyal to his boys.

Besides, he's very happy in Melbourne.

i'll be mightily [censored] off if all he gets asked is about Adelaide in the press conference.

be prepared to half mightily [censored] off as those questions sell papers.

PJ and PR wanted him.....good enough for me !! :)

That's the crux of it to me.

End of issue.

Thank god this is now resolved.

Now I can relax and get some bloody work done!

Word is that the Crows threw the kitchen sink at him but he had already verbally agreed to be at Melbourne.

Seems to be a "man of his word" which is a bloody good start.

Hopefully he is a great coach for us.

I'm quite stoked this has happened.. However looking at the Adelaide forums on Bigfooty posters are saying it's a 'blessing' they avoided him. From all reports I've heard he is a great coach and has all the potential to have an impact as a head coach. But does anyone know or heard how good he actually is? What are his traits, strengths, etc? Would be great to know more about Goodwin if anyone has further information on his coaching abilities.

Thanks!

PJ and PR wanted him.....good enough for me !! :)

seems we have 2 years to see & work out.

Word also is that the club is totally stoked with the appointment. Rate Goodwin very highly.

He's also very happy to be coaching with Paul Roos. This was the clincher more than money.

Roos is worth every cent

Seems like a man of integrity as well (unlike a few who have already, or are about to depart the Demons for big dollars ....... and uttered nothing but B/S all the way to the bank).

Well done Simon Goodwin, and congratulations PG and all others involved in his recruitment. The times they are a change'n at Melbourne, and I'm bloody stoked!

Me too. I wouldn't know a good coach if one kicked me in the crotch, but he apparently has shown promise and the plan seems sound.

It also feels nice not to get screwed over, which it looked like we might for a while last night.

Just a hunch, but if someone does that to you I'd predict they're probably not a good coach. Hope that helps.

I'm happy with this....But, I was sorta hoping for either Dew or Kirk.

Oh well, with PR and PJ I have faith in the people making this decision.

Not something we usually associate with the Melbournefc, Good to see.

I for one am bloody stoked and can't wait to see what he can bring to the club!

Will the presser be live on SEN? If not anyone know where?

It's meant to be live on sen ET at 1230 but hasn't started yet.

Im pretty happy with it.

I wonder if this appointment coupled with sandos departure could make melb a more appealing destination for current adelaide players?

Integrity and character cannot be under valued.

i suppose if you think about it, would you rather coach at your old club with some experience when you know you could've adopted a wealth of knowledge from one of the games best coaches then gone on to put those in practice.
I think what I'm saying is this move to melbourne is also in the best interest of his career.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
