Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This is what I think they've been saying to everyone. I know the cats have had talks with those 2.

I imagine next year we'd be an also-ran, and merely used to push his price up. Naturally.

And that's why we'd need to move now, because now is when WE are the best placed to secure him.

If we wait til next year we'll be 6th in line, flirted with to secure his big pay day elsewhere.

I agree 'Machsy', if we want him it is now or never. I'm not convinced he is the right fit for us though.

Does this mean we should look to pick him up as a free agent next year rather than trade for him this year?

the way i understood the post was that originally they said 'wait til free agency', but after the recent events they've said 'What can you offer for this coming trade period?'

Its the only way we will get him. If he is a free agent we will struggle to get him, free agency isn't geared for clubs like ours to lure big names. We are attractive this year because we will have the picks that Adelaide would want to execute the trade, plus the money to lure him.

If there is any indication that any may move in FA, Crows have to facilitate a trade.

Not trading means they will get one or two or three first round compo picks after their first round pick...that'll be significantly later if they have all three (better team).

Trading means they'll be a little worse (better starting pick as a result).

For Adelaide if they can get a low first round pick and a little on top it makes complete sense to maximise their gains now.

If there is any indication that any of them are leaving, waiting is a totally moronic move.

sorry should have been clearer.

what what I can gather we did go to him with a Godfather offer sometime ago, and were told to get the ducks in a row for next year.

everything changed last week. who knows how this plays out. Only logical Connors leaks to industry so another, more attractive, club moves heaven and earth.

get this superfluous on field distraction out of the way first I suppose

Whilst I'm loving all this news I'm still at a loss of why Danger would want to come to Melbourne.

Whether he wants to leave Adelaide or not, he's still 25, with a team at least in a premiership window with 2-3 years.

We're 5 years away from the likes.. I'd have him in a heartbeat, but I need convincing that even if Adelaide said yes how we would sell to a player to come to a team who finished lower on the ladder than GWS with a quarter of the potential talent on it's list.

Would the inclusion of Dangerfield in to our midfield not potentially bring that forward?

Offering someone big dollars brings responsibility for said player. Part of his responsibility would be to ensure our rise up the ladder happens earlier.

I'd hate to think we're being played here but the cynic in me says Connors is just using us to see which 'power' club would be prepared to offer as much as we are.

The only thing in our favor is the picks we can give Adelaide to satisfy a trade. We don't stand a chance getting him via free agency.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. I'm learning to trust player managers less and less each year.

Well after the Clark/manager treatment, the club would want to do their due diligence with any managers. Roos won't be taken for a fool twice in one trade season.

... but I hope we have a backup plan to swoop on another target if the Dangerfield trade falls apart. Worse case scenario we use the picks in the draft but I'd hate for us to negotiate all trade season with Adelaide only to come up empty handed. Shiel, Mitchell and Cameron should all be on our radar on equal footing with Patty.

What trade? Where has it been proven we have a trade in place that is ready to go? I'm loathe to have a crack at anyone who brings rumours to the table but that's all they are - rumours. To start suggesting that we have a trade ready that falls apart or we are even in the mix for him is ludicrous. Really, we know nothing.

It doesn't make a difference. He has agree to any trade and he knows he is a restricted free agent next year. He wont shift to Melbourne if he doesn't want to.

I see him as more likely to come next year. We are a chance to pick up free agents if we draft well and look to be on the rise, because we can outbid any club.

Well obviously we're discussing rumors and hearsay, but it's been leaking from enough sources with proven connections at the MFC. It's either a smokescreen to hide or our real target, or the real deal. Depends who you trust.

If we only talked about what's concrete fact, we wouldn't have much to talk about in the silly season.

Not sure if you've answered this in a previous post rjay, but I'd be interested to know why you think a 24 year old A grade midfielder wouldn't be the right fit for us.

It really depends on what he costs as far as a trade goes and what the contract terms are with him.

We can't afford to pay overs on one player, as we know our list is poor and in my mind we would be better off doing another Tyson like deal if we can, 2 for one. We need to get more class onto the list.

I'm also not sure of his long term viability as a player, he gets knocked around a lot, turns 25 at the start of next season. How many good years will he have in the tank???

The final point for me is I've seen this all before with Diamond Jim, Templeton, Big Carl, Moore...I believe you can learn a lot from history.

Now, on the other side of this I think Roos and his crew would be right across the pluses and minuses and if they go after him they will have good reason. I like the fact that Roos is right across how things work in the US and our game is mirroring that more and more.

better NOT be for both picks...

I wouldn't be surprised if it were.

Have to agree, and I hope it's not aswell.

As much as I would want Danger, I would be livid if the club threw those picks at him (on the basis we get band 1 for Frawley).

We are hearing Carlton are throwing pick 6 (pick 7 if we get Frawley compo) at Tom Mitchell, I would rather use our second pick 3 at him - scooping the Blues, and use pick 2 and a player (Trengove or Toumpas) for Dangerfield.

If Melbourne somehow gave up picks 2, 3 (assuming we get it) and Toumpas/Trengove/Watts for Dangerfield and Mitchell that would be the biggest trading win in years and a miracle.

Absolute dream scenario if we can manage it. Plus Clark for Lamumba, Blease for Robinson, third rounder for Stretch, second rounder for Giles and Frost, and any of Gwile/Jones/ROK as DFA's. Handsome off season indeed.

Im hearing there are some big things to Come out of the Sanderson sacking and it will be soon.

You called the Dom Tyson trade very early.

You are up there with GNF as someone with pretty reliable source.

What are you hearing so far? let it slip!

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
