I'm still very much a Dangerfield sceptic but I read the thread now with a slight rise of the left eyebrow.

I've seen the "load up to the eyeballs in top 10 draft picks" before too, which is why I'm gun-shy on passing up a proven performer whose best years are still ahead of him, for draft picks.

All I'm saying 'Nasher' is it's not that simple. Get 'Danger', pay overs and all will be good.

I'm really looking forward to the complete package Roos and the crew have in mind. Interesting times ahead I reckon, I also reckon we don't know the half of it yet.

The only reality will be those coming down from an extended drug trip when the truth and folly are laid bare!

Enough !!!!

I will no longer post on this thread due to potentiality of people at the end of it needing psychological help to cope with the trauma!

NEXT!

We are all Melbourne supporters. We all need psychological help.

I'm not in the 'all will be good' game if we simply get Danger, but if the planets aligned and we somehow got him to Melbourne then he would go along way to making us better.

Interesting times ahead indeed.

And truthfully, I hope we don't sell the farm as well, but I think the crucial point for me it's the team that holds the draft picks that takes the risk.

I really hope that if we must offer both our early picks, we get one of their early picks back somehow.

I don't think anyone's saying that if we get Dangerfield, it'll be all good, rjay. But there's no doubt he would improve our team and I wouldn't be surprised if his signing inadvertently encouraged others to join.

After the results of our Dom Tyson deal last year, I can't even understand how any MFC supporter wouldn't back Roos in to continue trading our top draft picks for established players. It's a complete no-brainer. We have seen high draft pick after draft pick fail miserably and end up on the scrap heap, because we had no seniority in our list to develop them.

We've got a 3 or 4 year drafting black hole inside our list now, and this year's delisting of Strauss, Blease and Tapscott round off that sensational period of failure. Bring in players from other clubs from the same years who actually eventuated into AFL-grade players and we might find ourselves in the position we belong.

Hawthorn and Sydney did not get to the top of the ladder with picks inside the top 5. They got there by poaching the talent from other clubs, and brilliantly developing their later picks by introducing them to an environment of talent and experience. Roos is trying to do the same thing here, but he needs a few more years to get the system on a roll.

22 Petraccas will not save the MFC.

I've evolved over the years in regards to forum rumours.

Early days: gullible, believe any rumour I heard, get excited, feel bitterly disappointed when they didn't go through

Middle days: refuse to believe anything, get annoyed every time someone posts hearsay

Recent days: Believe the rumours I like the sound of but understand they could be crap, keep emotions completely divorced until things start to pan out. Enjoy the ride, never feel disappointed, but feel ecstatic when things actually come to fruition.

Has Goodwin actually started with the MFC yet?

For instance, would he be one of the Demons' 'officials' Patty would be talking to - in an official capacity, that is?

Yes, can confirm Goodwin started with the Club on Monday.

The best teams have great midfields.

Deep, strong, multi-faceted midfields, invariably with a dynamic star or two.

They can make decent forward lines look good by controlling the ball, and they can allow average defenders to make a great backline by keeping the ball out of there.

I know Dangerfield is a dynamic star in Adelaide's midfield right now.

I don't know what Pick 2 and Pick 3 will be in 4 years time, when Jones is 30...

My mail is

Pick 3 and toumpas for Dangerfield

Apparently the crows expressed an interest in Tom McDonald or Jack vineyard and got told where to go

We don't even have pick 3 to give FFS.

Yeah, this whole situation gets really ugly if Frawley doesn't GTFO on day one of free agency. If he drags his heels until the week after, it means we have NFI what compensation we get, which holds up any trades and gives other clubs a chance to swoop on our targets.

I'm sure the club has it covered

as has been mentioned about a million times, there is reason to believe the club knows already that we WILL have it

Yeah but we don't have it to give.

It's just a 'get ready to be kicked in the crotch' safety mechanism I'm testing.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
