AKA depth player that is still a kid, hoping to enter his second full, uninterrupted preseason.

Pick 50 in a weak draft, plus a spud from a team on the slide. Yep, can see that's an upgrade...

Did anyone hear David King's idea about Dangerfield going as a free agent and then the clubs swapping picks and players after? What an idiot, it would make a mockery of the AFL's free agency and trade system.

Plus he also listed Cory Gregson as an A grade player? He is promising but he is hardly A grade. The guy is seriously an idiot.

They wouldn't be able to get away with that. AFL rules prohibit it.

Heard somewhere that if anybody else decides to trump the Cats, danger will only sign a 1 year deal with them and then request a trade.

Someone needs to check his privilege.

Entitled little gifted [censored]!

That's draft tampering and if the AFL had any balls they would knock that on the head right now.

i understand the position if say any pick or player is viewed in isolation. To be honest I view the whole period as a holistic event.

We start off with "x" players and "Y" picks we end up with "S" players and "T" picks. Hopefully after the circus has left town we are better for it all.

In that light I dont put the whole weight individually on trades and such...its how it all progresses and what we end up with.

The whole draft is this side of a raffle at best. We have 'weak' drafts producing some players later on and "strong" drafts providing duds up front.

bit like a cr@p game :)

I think 'The Devil Inside' is Barrett. He'd be the only one that 'likes' everything that comes out his own mouth...

it is really unclear what is tampering and what is allowed. Heard Caro mention on the radio the possibility that Adelaide will not match the Dangerfield offer from Geelong so they get a 1st round pick from the ALF. Then geelong trades Adelaide for another player but gives up their first draft pick and another pick. So Adelaide still get to first rounders for danger. That to me is draft tampering.

The AFL will make up a rule on the fly and stop that.

Effing ridiculous. And Geelong should just say "thanks for not meeting the contract. See ya!"

Wouldn't that be a guffaw?

This wont happen as the 16 other clubs that slip back a player in the draft will burn down AFL house.

That's like the Veale deal, which is now considered draft tampering.

It would be great if we could snare Dangerfield, and then use him for depth, just in case a Terlich or Matty Jones get injured.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
