if Thompson wants to coach the MFC long term im pretty sure the 'Junior Manager with L plates' plan will get thrown on the scrapheap faster than you can say '13th premiership'

Newsflash why get someone who is on L plates when we can possibly get someone on their opens?

Thats fine i like Bomber, Roos can then be the the bloke holding the bananas for the next 2 years

Can't see Bomber waiting 2 years to take over.......

What would he do ... Can't fit him in the coaches box..... 2 different Coaches...

Would be great to have him in 2017 ... But I'd say his hunger for coaching may be gone by then...

It's taken fifty years and counting to say "13th premiership."

I really don't think 2 guys of that calibre can coach effectively in the same team.
Both are used to having it their own way, and once Roos starts to pull rank as senior coach I have no doubt sparks will fly.

BUT in saying that, considering where we are at as a club, having them both on board offers stability and leadership to the playing group. It reinforces the notion that melbourne are not a basket case and dare I say it, could be a draw card to entice free agents to the club.

It's not the right decision for the long term, but it doesn't have to be. Its the right decision for right now. Make it happen MFC.

Made absolutely no difference to me princess, but you still don't know what you're talking about.

That was the point.

Always great to see you pointing out that you, and only you, know what you are talking about Machsy. You'd be a real acquisition in the work place, no question.

Same could be said for Thompson being an assistant under Hird.

There weren't any issues there.

I think you'd be jumping at shadows.

Completely different. Hird was an unproven, first-time senior coach. Bomber was a successful and established premiership coach.

Bomber was brought on specifically to guide Hird.

Roos needs no such guidance - so how do you have 2 giants in the same room?

I know it's not the same thing, but they do alright on AFL 360.

I don't think, and more importantly they don't think, it would be an issue.

Thompson is happy being deferential.

How do you think Thomspon & Neil Craig cope?

Doesn't seem to be an issue there.

Oh RTG... It's fair to say intellectual minnows like yourself wouldn't get a guernsey in my workplace.

But iI'll explaint it for you, just this once:

It's not anything I'm talking about, nor that I'm asserting no one else can understand it.

It's what the other poster said, being "Mark Thompson is a poor communicator," and the fact that it's completely wrong.

I think it'd be far fetched for many to agree with him, even yourself.

Or are you foolish enough to do that in an effort to score some sort of win in your own little mind..? x

If this was the eos to the 2016 season i could understand this but it isnt and fail to grasp any logic to the idea.

What he said.

It was reported he was on massive money when they lured him to the Dons. MFC won't be able to pay him massive money with what they are paying Roosy. He said earlier this year on AFL360 that the succession plan wouldn't work for him under Roos. So what role would he come over for. Why would he come to Dees as an Assistant on a lowly Assistants wage. Maybe he could be the head of the footy dept but after his performance at the Dons that better not happen. According to the evidence that came out about him telling them to stop the injections and they kept going for two months afterwards, he is just as implicit in that f-up as anyone. For some reason he can't see that. Not sure we want him onboard as a head of a footy dept and can't see him as an Assistant. Doesn't make sense.

Maybe the talks GOF was talking about were pre Roosy's decision to sign on for the third year.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
