It's difficult to say "sarcasm" with one's tongue in one's cheek. Even harder to convey it in text sometimes.

Let's just say I'm bitterly disappointed in the way it's all worked out. I thought he was better than that. It makes me want to have the No. 11 retired so that it can never be trashed again. Having said that, we do need to move on and let our actions on the field do our talking.

I wince every time this thread pops to the top of the board but Melbourne were expecting him to play in 2015 after his recuperation and made him an offer. Are you saying that Mitch went to the Cats for less than what we offered?

I am working on the premise that Mitch was genuinely ill so I will get that out of the way first. I think there is nothing more insulting or devastating than telling someone they are/were 'faking' depression.
I am not his doctor but I am concerned about this decision. This seems to be going ahead all too quickly. I hope Mitch isn't setting himself up for a fall and I hope this isn't entirely management driven as that would be irresponsible in the extreme.
With depression, you do need to work yourself back into the swing of things. Some people have this image of depressed people recovering as though they have a cold i.e. plenty of bed rest and isolation from society. This is a ridiculous belief as isolation and indolence flare it up more than the occasional trip to the footy or pub. That being said, you don't want to push yourself too bloody hard as it can set you back worse. Going back into a high pressure environment is a pretty big risk to take compared to the occasional training session or photography shoot down by the beach.
That being said, maybe Geelong is the place Mitch can do this. It worked for Gary Ablett senior for most of his playing career (tragically however, not after his playing career). The lifestyle is amazingly laid back there. It's not for me as I like a bit of hustle and bustle but if you wanted a chilled out city without the stress of Melbourne, Geelong would be the place to be.

i'm all for heckling and ridiculing Mitch on using/abusing the MFC's support/guidance of him, but posters who are suggesting he has faked depression disgust me.
