pick 3 WILL BE the PP

Yeah but we are still losing a quality player (albeit someone who's quality has been steadily reducing....)

Not saying I particularly agree with that outcome but I can just here the backroom boys at Awful House chortling, "let them eat 3"

Agreed, but what makes this the right moment? Genuine question.

There's a commission meeting next week maybe that's why? Either that or the fact we just had our worst game of the season.

Perhaps Evans is actually setting the scene for us getting a pp by introducing the tradegy angle. Ie Clark and jurrah. It would be ironic if we got it and Clark came back to us

Or perhaps he's just an overly suntanned, smarmy arse licker who has never left his Hawthorn ties at the door. I'll go with the latter.

must admit I am a little bamboozled on the timing, doing it before the end of the season seems to saying we are not going to win any more games so it can look as if we are TXXXXXG, you know that thing that we were not found guilt of, but still being punished for if we loose and if by some miracle (i.e. Norf or Weagles loose then they will certainly be Txxxxxg) then they would say see you won 5 games good boys, no pp.

Maybe so Dee but all of a sudden Evans has taken upon himself to declare that the goal posts have changed.

Conidering the AFL helped us get Roos to try and fix this club I'm pretty hopeful they will give an extra pick to help us again. We need 13 first round picks to fix this [censored].

Posted

why not? What did we get for him?

I'd say it was more likely that we pushed him out the door. He was finished, not to mention a flakey downhill skier. He was good when the team was up and about, but offered little when the game was against us.

The problem is while Father/son and academies exist the draft will never be equal in any case. The AFL says its ok to get players on the cheap via those venues but no PP to poorly performing clubs. It does not add up. The Cats won premierships via F/S and Hawks and Magpies via PP's. The Saints almost pinched one through PP'S.

If the AFL was serious about an equal draft it would get rid of the F/S rule and fund Academies so players could be available on an equal basis. We could get really screwed this draft especially if we get a second rounder for Frawley. Ironically the Academy system could help us this year in that the Swans may wish to deal for our pick 2 given that they will get an elite mid this draft and 2 in 2015. Tom Mitchell cannot get a game!!!!

With the early picks even and so strong GWS may also wish to do another 2 for one deal. Problem here is the Saints may compete with these clubs to deal.

If the Swans will not talk seriously about a 2 for one trade we should nominate Heeney at our number 2 pick. The Swans will pick him up at 18 but at least we can say we ranked him at pick 2 and where is the draft equality.

We won't need to, another club before the Swans will nominate him.

Yeah but we could before them - wouldn't change anything other than to point out another inequity.

Is Heeney the one the Swans were up in arms about last year when Roos was trying to get him to go into the draft rather than through the academy?

GWS - "We would say that Melbourne doesn't deserve another pick, because then where does it stop?"

I think this quote says it all.. Imagine all the priority pics being handed out in the next few years because of us getting one.. Wait no other club has got a record like ours, they may in 5-6 years if they keep loosing.

I think it would've been more rationale to argue this: "where does it start?, Melbourne has been on the bottom for __ years and if anyone deserves one they do. If they don't get one then i can't realistically see anyone else ever getting one!"

Because GWS has had how many picks??

Breathtaking.

Are GWS serious?

They have plundered the last few years of drafts at the expense of teams like us at the foot of the ladder.

Now they have the audacity to kick us as they make their way above us on the ladder and with the handouts they gave had they will keep climbing.

Go and get farked you afl soulless franchise. God damn hypocrites, you should shut the fark up.

I think that was Lloyd Perris that Roos wanted to nominate for the draft. Another young star the Swans have sitting in reserve developing and will make a big impact when he gets his time.

Is the draft effective? David King made the point during the week,..eg. St Kilda. Gets pick 1, Swans pick 18, St Kilda pick 19, Swans pick 36, St Kilda pick 37............St Kilda effectively get one pick more than the Swans. It's going to take some time for bottom teams to climb the ladder.

I find it highly hypocritical and very farting annoying that GWS even comment on getting a PP.

Its what they have built their side on. U r a bunch of farting dogs.

When you've been in the competition for more than 1 minute then start to voice your opinions.

I found this article unbelievable. My Hypocrisy meter makes a lot of noise when it goes off and it is usually only set off by politicians like Joe Hockey but when it went into melt down this afternoon I was surprised to find the GWS CEO complaining about our early draft picks and that we did not deserve any compensation. Backed up by the Pies CEO Gary Pert. Both clubs have manipulated the draft at various times but are now concerned about draft purity while the various academies will be sending top picks to the Swans and Free Agency will deliver the proven players to fill gaps to the op teams. What else can we do for un equalisation?

There goes the PP. We lost to Port a few weeks ago over there by 3 points. That makes us a 100 point better side than Carlton.

It's pretty rich from a club who still gets a free ride from the AFL. Pay no attention to it though. He's another that simply doesn't understand the rules. He's used the word 'deserve'.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
