GAMEDAY - Round 21

There is no more appropriate time in the course of Demon events than today for our football team to take a stand for truth, justice and the Australian way.

Over the past eight years we've been ravaged, beaten and humiliated by the least worthy of participants in the AFL competition. Twelve months ago, we had our faces rubbed into it by this noxious vermin at some god foresaken wilderness to our north. We went back there again earlier this year and they flogged us within an inch of our lives.

Enough with the humiliation!

Now that the game's back on the MCG let's teach these suckers the meaning of humility. It's time to draw a line in the sand and not be satisfied to win by 7 goals to 5 which is where we were heading a fortnight ago content to drift home against Brisbane before our wheels fell off.

No. In the words of Winston Churchill, today we're going to fight:-

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.

I'm going overseas today.

The last time I was traveling overseas during a game was when we lost by 186 points.

Good luck, everyone.

luckily your not a frequent overseas traveller, or this club would be in turmoil............

You sure you haven't racked up a few more frequent flyer miles over the last couple years?

as i said in the changes thread this is a huge game from the MFC

GWS have never won on thew MCG

theyve beaten us the last two times

We need to send a message today, A loss would mean any improvements we've supposedly made this season are an aberration

We HAVE to win today.
The goal posts have moved somewhat with our defense and percentage improving. Jonesy said in an interview mid week that the coaching staff now want the players to run both ways (but this time on offence) and take the game on more. I read this as they want us to attack, take our fate into our own hands and WIN as opposed to strangling the opposition and hoping we fall over the line.

Over to you MFC!

Big win today would be great, this is an oppoutinity to show some of the young GWS blokes we are on the right track so they can request trades to mfc

Not sure why people think that

They will be out to win today

If they pull any dodgy late changes I will of course admit you were right and i was wrong :)

BOG to Nathan Jones and another 3 brownlow votes in the bank

I reckon he is going to finish higher than people might think, won't win, but I reckon top 10

Gee BBub, the last time two teams tanked on the same day TJ got 42 uncontested possessions.

And we won. Although you could say Caaaarlton lost doubly because they picked up Kreuzer

2 other cups. Bruce Gibbs cup. Nic Nat cup. Couldn't get our hands on it.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
