Tom McDonald?

Yeah I was wrong.

I thought I would be when I heard Tom talking about aiming to improve his speed over preseason at the end of last year. It gave me a clue that he knew he had to work on his glaring defensive weakness.

When Salem was moved to the backline and Grimes got dropped before round 1 I thought hooray, the coaches have realised we can't keep blindly turning it over from half back as well.

All credit to Tom, he's done a great job.

Now maybe he can get some of the others to join him. There's a long list to take his spot. He could start by getting his key defensive buddy Lynden Dumb to play a little better. He's gone right back to gross stupidity and brain fades.

His rate of improvement is amazing, where I'll agree he still makes a lot of mistakes and his kicking needs to improve.,he has come a long way already in a short amount of time and will continue to get better week after week.

If only the lazy bastards upfield would run and create options, and space, then he wouldn't look anywhere like the deer in the headlights that he used to appear.

He looks so much better this season, and did so even more when the likes of Kent, Frost, and (the early season) Newton were options. Hogan can't do all the heavy and the running work up forward. He needs support, and space.

Thread should be locked, so what if someone got something wrong? Weve all made bad posts and hindsight is 20/20 , there was no need to bump this thread

There is a perfectly good Tom McDonald thread for 2015 discussing his great form

As the bumper, I agree that we all get things wrong, I also think it is a good reminder that we all get things wrong...

And maybe it's a lesson that we shouldn't shoot our mouths off on the basis of a couple of games

As all would note, I have never been a Mc Donald fan, gets outmanoeuvred too easily and his disposal is always heart in mouth stuff!

His last month has been putrid!

While we've seen he can be really great as a close checking defender who spoils well and can intercept mark well, he continues to make the most baffling of blunders.

Kicking straight to Nic Nat in the middle of the ground.

That's the kind of [censored] you want to see once a year from an AFL footballer if at all.

But unfortunately, he does things like that more often than I'd like.

It really undoes all of the good work he manages.

Travis Cloke has scarred him something shocking.

What does it tell you that Travis Cloke had his best game for the year on him and apart from one other game Travis Cloke has been shizen?

It aint rocket science!

But according to you I have no idea!

Just staggering that you can be an AFL footballer and keep missing simple kicks but 20 or so metres. He picked the right option clear in the middle of the ground and left it 20m short and straight to Nic Nat. It's staggering that it keeps happening and eventually it will finish Tom's career. His defensive work rate is great but his defensive body work is sadly lacking still.

He still doesn't know his limits, which scares me.

His disposal is sub-afl standard and his decision making still isn't flash. However, i am willing to continually put up with him and his clangers because he genuinely gives a sh!t and gives his all every game.

There are plenty ahead of him in the queue to walk the plank. First up Howe, Bail and Jones (M)

Disposal is heart in mouth stuff after the heart in mouth stuff of continually trying to take on the tackler after the heart in mouth stuff of bouncing his way into trouble.

As silly as this may sound Once Frost is up and going surely it wouldn't hurt to trial McDonald at CHF? We all know he has a big engine so the potential that he could seriously run some CHB into the ground with his power running wouldn't go astray.

Not silly at all. Think he could 2nd ruck as well. After all that was the role BP recruited him for!

Might not even have to wait for Frost to come back. Fitzy, Dunn and Garland might be enough to take the Dons forwards. We could use Tom forward this week.

I actually don't mind that. Sorta like Neita.

I actually really want to see the Hogan/McDonald combination. Worth a try.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
