Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 14

No change.. Don't see what Terlich would bring if he came in for Riley, unless we moved grimes into the midfield and Terlich back otherwise there's no spot for Terlich and Grimes is a lot better down back anyway.. Salem the sub again.

I think they'll remain unchanged, but it's clever from the FD to encourage the three inclusions on the extended bench. It should drive them to put in even harder for a place next week. Recognition is an important thing, even if it isn't the end goal. McKenzie experienced a similar thing a few weeks ago.

Roos and co are looking for consistency at VFL level. They're managing things beautifully.

Blease for Riley the only change that might happen

Will probbaly be unchanged though

Not sure we need a defensive liability like blease vs the Roos.

Wow. I had somehow managed to erase this from the memory bank completely too. Must be a trauma response.

It would be fair to say a second consecutive massive turn around is on the cards.

It was an interesting day for me, it was my birthday, I was on holidays in Paris and we got flogged, at least I didn't have to sit through the game.

The way the teams are listed.

There is a pace miss match with Harvey and Grimes.

Who do we get to run with him? McKenzie?

RIley did not impress me at all last week. I think Riley for Blease (or Terlich)

U have to let the poor bugger settle in.

Geez he's only been in one week. Give him a couple more wks and c how he goes.

According to Champion Data, once inside 50, North score more often than any other team in the competition, therefore this should be a bit of a benchmark game for our newly found defensive unit.

Goals or points? Most teams score heavily against us, just not as often through the big ones.

If dan Nicholson makes the final 22 I won't be in attendance Sunday afternoon

Bloody hell what a stupid thing to say. I seriously can't fathom the mentality of some of our supporters sometimes, anyone who cares enough to post on here yet won't attend a home game because a player they don't necessarily like might be playing. Get there, be loud and support the club. We're trying to increase our crowds/support and people are as fickle as to say "I'm not going if he's playing", "I'm not going to Docklands", "I'm not going cause it's Sunday" - I just hope you're not one of those who then also complains when we have to sell games to NT.

Will Blease be the surprise inclusion and play run with role with Boomer Harvey ?

I wont be surprised, smother boomer with pace and pressure, take him out of the game.

He is not a best 22 player

Harsh call, how do we know? Haven't seen Nicho play this year, and going off last years form he was as welcome as Pederson, Terlich and Dunn in pre season.

First thought is no change and keep Salem as sub.

Second thought is if Salem starts is Riley the right sub or is someone with pace a better sub?

I'd keep Salem as sub and then I would consider Riley's spot in the team as I just don't think he's fit enough. If I was going to drop him and play someone different as a defensive half forward I would probably consider Nicholson over the other two. Whilst he's a horrendous footballer if he played defensive forward on Dal Santo at half back and used his pace to pressure some slower North defenders when the ball is coming in he could be useful. The concern is with Matt Jones, Bail and McKenzie in the side we need some class at half forward and there's only so many times Kent, Watts, Salem can get it.

I'm predicting if we play well the game will be an in tight slog so who knows.

Blease does not have the engine to run with Boomer who makes repeated efforts all day long, I think Dan Nicholson may have come into consideration due to his endurance, which will enable him to run with Harvey all day.

Would still be surprised if there was any change

North seem to come home strong after slow starts yet we tend to give up a small lead then clamp down defensively as the games progress and slowly climb back in. Makes for a real cat and mouse battle. Would LOVE to add NM to our list of scalps this year.

Then the Dogs next week.

With Blease, Terlich and Nicholson named for Casey, it appears no change!

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
