The cynical side of me says, what else is he going to say? But I feel in recent seasons they wouldn't have been saying anything at all. Something along the lines of "give it our best shot".

I hope we bring a frenetic and frenzied effort, much like Port imposed on Hawthorn last week.

Will we win? Well, with Dawes I would have given us some small chance. Without him I don't think much chance, but certainly not no chance!

If any team is ready for a down week it's Port. We'd have to have a great deal go our way but it's nice to feel like your team is still an outside chance. I'm still learning how to trust my team again. The fear of embarrassing thrashings still lingers. I feel like a jilted lover who's slowly allowing myself to trust my unfaithful partner despite all the years of unrewarded commitment.

Port missing Cassisi is negligible, but Port not having Monfries and Hartlett is a serious advantage to us.

The key will be Frawley and Gawn standing up as forwards.

I don't think its impossible. They had a hard week last week against hawthorn. It would tae a physical toll on the young team, not to mention several of there last handful of games being challenging physical games. We on the other hand are fresh. although lacking some key players. but so are they.

theres no ground advantage, and conditions seem reasonable.

having said that, i have tipped port.

But i think we can potentially take it right up to them.

Exactly, I spoke to a few of them at training yesterday morning, you can sense the belief is there. Hey Saty, I was just curious about the level and style of training differences between Roosy and Neeld? and are there different players starting to become more vocal with more confidence, seems like a lot of blokes have never really tasted confidence or a good run at it at AFL level, blokes like Nev jetta really seem to be showing the ability we all thought they had when drafted.

its obvious the boys are improving every game. we are massively under estimated... every team we beat goes into a soul searching meltdown. Soon people will realise we are a competitive prospect... until then.. KA CHING

But it's fun again. Bar a GF I don't think there is a better or more exciting time to support a team than when it's genuinely on the improve where every win is glorious.

And it gives one a great sense of satisfaction to have stuck fat during the lean years attending games even in the knowledge that a thumping was probably inevitable. Now I go genuinely optimistic, nervous and excited.

Though I am very optimistic I have couple of niggles in the back of my mind. After our first two wins the following games have been a let down. It also remains to be seen if the bye has a negative effect on us. In previous years we have mostly always disappointed after the bye. Then again we did not have Roos coaching us. Their losses of Monfries, Hartlett and Cassisi is a bonus for us but considerably offset by Dawes missing. Cassisi is a natural leader and will be missed just like we will miss Dawes leadership. The key for us is to shut down their scoring. Schultz and Wingard in particular.

No the only difference is that Roos has got the bit between the ears on most players fully fit
