Can we beat Port Adelaide?

Featured Replies

Well we aren't going to lose at bad as Geelong or St Kilda. I guarantee that

I wouldnt be that cocky

WYL, you incessantly sound like an U/15s coach from the 90s that has no idea why his side is at the bottom of the ladder.

You say all this tough talking inspirational guff that really has no meaning.

The kids would run onto the ground full of desire then run in circles cos they wouldn't know what to do.

theres nothing wrong with what WYL posted, most posters are excited to see what we can bring to the table tomorrow.

and he's right, we shouldn't settle for losses. Yes we are toward the bottom of the ladder, but there has been some rapid improvement that we can all get excited about and be optimistic!

We will need absolutely everything to go right for us today to have a chance.

Umpiring, kicking straight, Port not kicking straight, Paul Roos coaching like Erwin Rommel, every player playing their very best game for the club, Port sustaining some key injuries - in the first quarter, etc.

That said, I believe in this club now. Chris Dawes omission for this game is just too big to overcome IMO.

I feel an upset brewing, port aren't invincible like some teams think, if they turn up relaxed after beating some good sides we might just surprise them and when we get out tails up we are hard to beat.

I dont think it matters if they turn up to play, I genuinely believe our best is good enough to win

I think the key is the wide ground. It'll give Port a lot of room to run on the wings, something they do very well and that we'll need to stop to have a win.

Normally I'd back us to restrict what Port want to do, but the overly generous spaces work against us.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
