It's time to stand in awe of young Jack!

Now that the farce of the past few days, with the MRP & Tribunal bringing the game into disrepute, is behind us, it is time to acknowledge Jack's absolutely brilliant piece of play against the Crows. It seems to me that the collision part of the play has totally overshadowed exactly what happened through that entire sequence that has now been played before our eyes endless times over the past few days.

It's time the football world took note of exactly what happened -- all the way through...

Let me explain.

The ball bounces in no man's land, with two large players attacking it from one direction, and young Jack attacking it from the other. The ball bounced to Lynch, who took possession and was immediately tackled. There's then the well publicised collision. All three players fall to the ground. The two big guys are hurt, and remain on the ground.

But, there's is where it gets really good...

Jack, who had braced so well for the impact, although he also went to ground, was not hurt. (His training to learn to protect himself in such situations had paid handsome dividends!) Not only that, he still had his mind on only one thing -- the ball. Although still on the ground, he managed to take possession of the ball, evade an opponent, and dish off an excellent hand ball, finding a team mate in the clear.

It's a fabulous piece of play, and epitomises everything that's great about the game -- courage, tenacity, determination, skill and the total commitment to the ball, no matter the risk or the possible cost to the individual. Would have to have been pretty much Play of Day, and clearly demonstrated what a gem we have in young Jack!

Makes the way it has been treated by the MRP and the Tribunal that much more of a total farce, and the reason why I label it clearly as one of the worst cases of bringing the game into disrepute in living memory! Shame, AFL, Shame!!

I'm just so proud of Jack, the MFC and the wider footy community for sticking by him to ensure justice was finally done.

Oh, and I understand Daniel Cross was quoted yesterday as saying young Jack will end up be the best of our young midfield group. Kinda hard to argue with that!

Go Dees!

Now I hate to add a note of caution.

Gee guys lets have a little caution and patience.

The guy is in his second season and a few games

Can we let him play 50 games before we glorify him as the new messiah.

Yes he looks good but let he kid develop without the messiah label.

I know we are desperate for someone to love after nearly decade of crap.

But lets acknowledge he is looking good but not yet the messiah

OD, I am one for keeping the lid on, no player is the messiah, but I am already looking forward to seeing Jack, Dom Tyson and Christian Salem become a midfield to drool over, they have Nate Jones, Bernie Vince and Daniel Cross teaching them, what's not to like...

I agree OD.

Likewise for the blind assumption we will beat the Dogs this weekend on the back of last weekend and this week. As much as I dislike the focus on gambling these days, the betting odds are not as rosy as some of the euphoria around here would suggest. Small steps. Many are opening themselves up for a big disappointment. Let's hope not.

C'mon od. Don't deny us the odd bit of scenery as we cross the stony desert to the holy grail. It might be a mirage, but it may also be an oasis.

I'm looking forward to the debate in years to come, similar to what we are hearing now with the Abletts. "Which was greater? Father or son?"

Stand in awe? Why? He has done nothing special so far in footy. All he has done, is what is expected of him. Just because the majority of our list don't seem to quite understand that they are professional footballers, doesn't mean Jack should get more credit than he is due.

I'll stand in awe of him when he has put many good consistent performances in, but not before.

I don't understand why many on here seem so keen to applaud what i would determine as the bare minimum.

Our last true on-field leader in any sense, was Neita. Here's hoping Jonesy can continue his good run and push himself into such company.

If there is anyone on our list who is awe-worthy, it is Nathan Jones and only Nathan Jones.

The most significant piece of play from a Melbourne player since David Neitz's bump and goal on Luke McCabe in 2002.

He may not be the Messiah, OD; he may in fact just be a very naughty boy but that doesn't detract from the example he sets and the hope he gives to supporters.

Did anybody say, "Yeah, look, that bloke God, he made the world in seven days but let's wait until he's done it a few more times before we get too excited"?

FFS OD - live a little, get excited.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
