On the bench of the D league side though. Fair to say this Kiwi experiment isn't going so well.

I'm keen for Garland to come back in. Please have a good hit out and be nice and fit Col!

Same with Gawn and Fitzy. I'd have them both at their best over Jamar and Pedersen. But at least 1 would be nice!

If Dawes and JKH can knock on Roosy's office all week demanding selection, you can bet his protege from way back at the Swans will have his foot in the door all week. What better way to debut than against the foolish folk who delisted him.

Makes me excited for Bulldogs v Dees and the Daniel Cross factor. If you think Crossy is going hard at the moment, just wait.

No Spencer? Emergency for the firsts, but normally they're also named at Casey if playing.

yes, the other 2 emergencies (clisby, nicho) are named

casey game is the day after seniors so all emergencies could play

suspect the intent with spencer is to give him a rest if not required at last minute

not a bad strategy given our wafer-thin ruck stocks and the need to play a single ruck for 90% game time

Preview from Casey's website - Preview

"Congratulations are in order for Christian Salem who makes his AFL debut this week after his best-on-ground effort last weekend. He, along with Mark Jamar and Jack Trengove made the Demons best 22 this week and will take on the Swans at the MCG on Saturday night. Naturally their absence will leave a big gap in the Scorpions playing group."

The former Captain shall at least be excused if he's a bit sluggish, it's not easy to run in a moon boot.

The ones that I am interested in:

Toumpas: don't mind him finding form/confidence at Casey but he should be knocking the door down

Garland: Once he returns our defensive will be much stronger (can start dropping the dead wood - Pedo/Georgiou/Terlich

Clisby: A handy player and if his form continues he could find himself replacing Grimes/Terlich

Strauss: Similar boat to Clisby - was in great form preseaon according to reports but suffered yet another injury - I still believe he could become a great rebounding HBF

Riley: If the rumours are true and he is a silkier version of McKenzie then he is just what we need - we need to win some centre clearances and lay more tackles

Fitzy: Has a big opportunity to step up giving our lack of forward stocks - should be given another chance given he is now not the only tall forward - could have helped Jamar with the ruck load this week

Gawn: Our ruck stocks are far from great - we really need Gawn and King to become good ruckman otherwise we will have to pay top dollar for a decent ruckman

Both Mitch Clark and Trengove seem to have risen from the grave this week - you wonder who writes this stuff.

An alternative conspiracy theory would be that Jamar is in doubt with a 4-6 week mystery injury ??

I wouldn't worry too much about Jimmy, the kid is motivated as the best of them and has plenty of talent. He was actually named as an emergency for the Suns on the back of two games. He had 22 disposals in the first game and was named in the bests with 29 disposals the following week. Last weekend he had 11 touches in what sounded like a quarter and a bit before being concussed. He will be back soon and our team will be the better for it.

I don't quite understand the calls to drop Georgiou. New to the top league and, given that, he has done very well. The player , however, that concerns me is Max Gawn. I remember his first game and even though he missed a sitter I remember being wrapped about what we had. That was a very long time ago now and I have reservations about his ability to 1. Get on the park regularly and 2. Have significant influence in a game. No doubt I need to take a deep breath, chill out and take a long term view but....

Only Westrupp in the reserves... good stuff. Hate seeing MFC listed players, rookies or not, playing in the VFL reserves.

Re Westrupp: Of course we need to persevere. Having said that, if you get the chance to see youtube vision of the boy kicking the ball you'll get an indication of the work that needs to be done. It probably shows why we have focused on the Irish boys as there is a semblance of being able to kick a footy.

The idea of recruiting this guy has amazed me from Day 1

Have never been able to see why we took him in the first place.

Why? can anyone tell me ?

From what I have seen at training he is easily the worst player on the list and on a list of the quality of the MFC that says a lot.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
