Jesse Hogan Injury Update?

Kent could be good for him to live with as well. A fellow West Australian, signed up until 2016, seems to me like a hard worker. I gather that he's quite close with Toump and Viney as well. I don't think the constant fretting on here is necessary; if I were a betting man I'd put money on him extending his contract.

Nice to hear Jesse and Tommy Hawkins caught up for coffee the other week, I believe at Tom's suggestion, to talk about Jesse's injury and help coach him through what would be a difficult period. Champion material right there.

Misson:

"“Jesse has come back from Perth and has improved a lot,” Misson said.

“We’d expect to start loading Jesse, from a running point of view, in a couple of weeks’ time. He’s probably four weeks after that before he’s even looking like he’s ready to play."

So optimistically 6, realistically 8?

The kid is living with Jack Viney... is there one other guy in the Dees list who you would prefer Jesse live with. You can count on Jack to have the personality, attitude and the passion for the club required to keep him interested.

His blind love for the club is sure to rub off.

until somebody offers $1 extra on his contract

He will need a month at Casey

If we are lucky he might play the last couple of games of the year for the Demons

I'd say they'll want to give him a taste of the Dees by the end of the year. One or two should do it and have him busting to pull on the guernsey for 2015!

They gave Grimes a game, last of the season, when he was injured and had problems with his back, it was just to give him a sample of what it was al about.

I'd like to see him play 3 or 4 matches with Casey, to test his back injury prior to next pre season.

One week at Casey and then wherever his form dictates. If the back is fine it'll be fine in either team. And if it's not it's got as much chance of playing up in either side.

He's one of those players that fans in the competition love to give it to, but good on him for offering advice on getting Jesse through this difficult time in his career.

If he gets a couple of games in before the end of the year I'll be happy.

Great gesture by Hawkins - a genuine champion in all aspects of life.

i think when he's ready to enter at VFL level he'll still be a couple of weeks off AFL fitness. the VFL games would get him some match fitness before any AFL hitout.

Bit rough.

We've got no indications yet that the kid is a mercenary.

it probably is rough - but the "bleed red and blue" cliche is highly overused. ( used in relation to Viney)

We laud Jones and his commitment - the same commitment that saw his last contract negotiations stall somewhat as Essendon put in a huge play for him.

I am always bemused by the "he aint going anywhere" statements because the reality is now that the greatest majority of AFL footballers will consider offers from other clubs for varying reasons.

I have now taken the stance that a player will either re-sign or he won't. I don't lose a minutes sleep over it anymore and after Scully i don't hold an opinion on any player at our club staying or going.

The only fact I cling onto is that if a Hogan wants to go to the Eagles or Freo, it will cost them plenty as they have to trade with us. Unless you are a free agent you cannot get to the club of your choice without our co-operation. The only way a non free agent player can walk for nothing is if he prepared to be drafted by a cellar dweller.

Or perhaps it was a very cleverly cloaked attempt at getting in his ear... Oh fark, he's going to Geelong!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
