GAME DAY - ROUND 2

I notice we've had 19 inside 50s, only two fewer than WC. Is our lack of forwards the main issue here?

Those stats might be misleading. We get the ball inside 50 then handball it out, then back in, then we drop a mark, then we kick it back around the 50 metre arc and then we turn it over and West Coast kick a goal.

No, we are bombing it in anyway.

The inside 50's in a Dees game, they mean very little.

We've bombed it in ever since Moloney was playing - he was the king of it.

Hopefully when Toumpas develops and we can afford to play Watts in the middle, then we'll have clean disposal into the forward line.

I'm getting the proper s51ts at Frawely.

James "jog jog" Frawley.

Goes fine once it is near him, but is kind of wafting around a lot, watching the ball of over hiss head, then across the other way. Should be involved in a lot more moments.

Spencer is up against it. But Jamar wouldn't be much of an improvement and Gawn is unproven.

Our ruck stocks aren't great. Grundy was a big miss for us. That is where Neeld has hurt us.

We paid overs for the Dawes trade and we will continue to pay for that.

Spencer was ok last week. Tap outs only. He doesn't seem to be able to mark, be a target as a big man should. Haven't seen him actually run. Didn't know about the Grundy one? Dawes and Gillies were mistakes. Dawes has lifetime calf issues. Not all lost. Hogan back will help. Any target will help. I think Pederson gets a game cos he eats his weetbix.

What does Dave Mission do at work exactly?

On top of all the injuries he manages pathetically, we aren't anywhere near as fit as other sides like usual

They need a "mercy" rule; so they can just stop games like this now.

Wtf would frawley want to stay???

You don't become a good team over nite!

You don't stop being a crap team over nite!

We can't sack any more coaches or footy dpt people !

This is a 5+ yr plan

Fitness isn't the issue. Speed and size are. We are clearly undermanned in both departments. Roos will target both areas next year.

We need GWS concessions this year to ever be a chance to get off the bottom.

a mini draft type consession would help... But we need Roos to extend his contract... Two preseasons isn't enough...

The players are having a dip but they still do not spread and our skill level is below AFL standard.

With all the high draft picks used in the last 7 years it is the skills i cannot abide.

This club is right on the edge no matter what PJ or Roos does.

The players have to take responsibility for their skills

We are either scared to stuff it up or just not smart and therefore too slow to make decisions. When we don't honour leads around the ground everyone stops running and stays putting their hand in the air saying "just kick it to me here".

No idea where our preseason confidence has gone.

Looking optimistically, this is where I believe leading teams style group talking and debriefing could help change the culture. The change needs to come from the players.

I think they are working hard enough off field but need to get it together above the shoulders on match days.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
