According to MFC website:Youngsters push round one claim

Mitch Clark (personal leave) TBC

Chris Dawes (calf) 2-3 weeks

Col Garland (ankle) 2-3 weeks

Jesse Hogan (back) TBA

Mark Jamar (foot) 1-2 weeks

Aidan Riley (leg) 3-4 weeks

Jack Viney (concussion) test

TBC means placed on LTI = 8 weeks

TBA means we haven't got a clue, probably anywhere between 2-3 weeks and see you in July/August

lets hope Jack Viney comes up for round 1

With the added cautiousness around concussion nowadays I would not be holding my breath.

Viney did very little at training today. A few laps and some run throughs with Hogan. Left early. He is a long shot and he hasn't got much practice game time under his belt.

Anyone know what is wrong with Jamars foot? He has barely trained all pre season from what I have read so how would he have hurt it and been out for so long?

He is the originator of MFC soft tissueitis Got it in 2012 and has so far infected Dawes and Clark.

Seriously do we actually care with Jamar.

He is gone as far as I can see, he has been injured for long periods every year since 2010.

We have some reasonable ruckman in Spencer and Gawn no longer required is my view.

Dawes is off to the AIS in Canberra to seek treatment on his calf injuries.

2 to 3 likely to be the classic MFC 4 to 6!

Yes.

He's legs are as tough as a bag of marshmallows.

2013 all over again.

The amusing part if there is one is that people were saying we should trade Fitzy because we had too many big forwards.

Ha Ha he is not the next Wayne Carey but he is way better than anyone currently fit enough to take the field in 2014.

It's absolutely ridiculous the quality of forwards we have on the injury list.

Exactly OD! I really wanted to trade Jamar after 2011 & 2012

Spot on again IMO. I love how Fitzy's really improved and, despite his diabetic past, keeps himself reliably ready to play!

Col is one we will miss in that backline. Sorry but when did Jamar hurt his foot. He hasnt played for so long I just forget what made him miss a lot of last year.

Has he found a cure for type one diabetes Rob Mac?

Oh yes RTG, I should think so! :-) No I have no details, heard he was doing very well managing it and respect that he keeps himself on the park.

On a brighter note, how good is that our midfield group minus VIney have had an almost flawless preseason. Excellent news.

We really wont know until about round 6 how the mid field is shaping up. Although i agree, on paper it does look like a significant improvement on last years offering. Even after 6 weeks i wont be judging them too harshly though. It takes a season or 2 at least for a substantially new group to really gell together.

So what exactly is wrong with Viney? He was listed as concussed wasn't he?

So when will he be right?

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
