Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'd be happier with the 800K and the draft pick. Seeing we have sensible people at the club these days we should do well with both.

yup

i love Chip but the extra top 5 pick and the 600k to spend elsewhere will be much better for us

will give us two top 5 picks and more elite talent for ROosy, Stone and co. to mould

In marking situations he does everything bar try and mark the ball.

He and Howe should have been swapped in the last quarter.

agree 100%

i said exactly the same thing to my brother 2 minutes into the last quarter

It will be very interesting to see what he fetches at the end of the year. It's hard to know whether his foray forward will help or hinder his price tag given that he is a natural defender (and in some ways still plays like one). If he chooses to stay it should be on our terms, I hope we don't cave to what he wants.

The fact McDonald wasnt switched either was strange, I sat there thinking geez georgiou would be a better match up

And make no mistake chip will get offers of 800k

GWS and GCS will both be circling and despite the fact I can't see him leaving unless its to go to a contende, they have dollars to throw around

He wasn't switched to play on Crameri last night when it was needed and he was giving Dunn a bath - if he doesn't play on his bunny Riewoldt next week I think it's clear what Roos thinks.

Will be interesting next week

James Frawley absolutely owns Jack Riewoldt in every way possible

Smashes him every time we play them

First up I don't know if he will go or stay. But I believe Roos has decided to give our back line a years trial without Frawley to look and learn to play as a unit.

Roos has said before that this year is about looking at our list and learning. If chip goes we have an extra year into our backline if he stays we have a stronger back unit.

To be honest really want him to stay so we keep a settled group and only trade or delist blokes who Roos is happy to move on. We have seen in 8 weeks the reward that can come from having a settled playing group.

Our team lost last night and most of us are shattered, hasn't it been far too long since that feeling!

Frawley played his role last night, better than some and not as good as others. Those expecting him to star week in week out at CHF and reckon he's not trying need only look as far as AA Defender Carlisle for how hard the switch can be. It's much harder to play key forward than key back in the Roos game plan, swans, they competed for so long effectively due to Barry Hall and Micky O, two elite forwards. We are building toward that, surely Frawley can be as effective as Micky O if we give hi some time. A pre season training at CHF would help.

Reckon Chip got closer to making his decision after tonight. He gave his all but it's clear after losing to such mediocrity that he won't play one final in his career if he's wearing red and blue.

Not sure at all about this.

If anything I'd think he could see rapid improvement.

The team doesn't know how to win yet, or hold off a team that is coming at them with a slender lead, but it won't be too long before they figure it out.

I'm sure it hurt to lose the match, but it would also feel good to be in the running again for once.

The dogs weren't pushovers and we should have had them, save for some bad kicking.

That he's trying to build a defense that doesn't rely on Frawley?

That doesn't necessarily mean he's planning for Frawley's departure.

It'd be prescient to do that even if Chip was already signed for the next 5 years.

Well, I for many, would like him to stay. You don't shed good players if you want to be a good club.

It is a shame he is carrying a toe injury, he is 6 weeks into learning a new position; the results are mixed but there is promise.

I hope he can shake it off over the bye.

,Was informed the hawks want to offer chip 1.7 million over 3 years, I feel he will get better financial offers than that but the hawks guarentee regular finals footy and a decent shot at a premiership

The fact that our club has averaged so few points against and have looked so much more solid in defence this year whilst Frawley has been forward certainly gives me confidence that if we lose him, it's no big deal.

As a man mountain, I'm content with his output as a forward but there's still something about his body language that irks me. Chris Dawes is someone who is absurdly fanatical at the ball and player every time be goes near it. I feel as if Frawley is half in the game and half in his head all too often. Whether or not that's been influenced by being apart of a losing environment is up for debate. I feel as if it would have some influence. But then again, we have players like Jones who plays every game as if it's his last and he has been there longer than Frawley.

Personalities, mindset, habits and nature all have a huge effect on the way players develop.

I'm of the view that we'd be better off without him. Again for the environment of the club and for the potential quality we could inject into the side again next hear. You've got players like Plowman and Tomlinson from GWS as kpp who would be hungry and would inject excitement and a new dynamic to our list as well as a considerable list of high level mids like Tyson who we could trade for using a Frawley compensation pick. We'd free up more cash to keep players like Hogan and go after some big fish as well.

Frawley's importance to the team is overhyped in my eyes... For me, it's about shedding some of the old to build something new. And with te new comes hunger, desire, competitiveness and excitement. Frawley's temperament onfield is that of an old man who has gone through some really tough times and our club needs to move away from that as quickly as it can.

I'm hoping for the good of the club that he decides to leave as I think it will open up opportunities that we could look back on in years to come with wide eyes and open mouths.

I understand what you are saying and I agree that losing Frawley is not the disaster some envisioned just a few months back.

But (there is always a but) your reasoning above is sound, but if Frawley had spent time in the backline this year would you have said he is integral to our good defensive record?

I wouldn't have. The fact that we kept the Dogs to 42 Inside 50s is a testament to the work of players up the ground - not the defenders. They have done well but it is the mindset of the team that is pushing other teams wide into the forward line or stopping the momentum forward altogether.

Having Frawley getting the kicks that McDonald is er, doing his best with - makes us a better team - so while I agree he is hardly irreplaceable. I don't like losing talent and taking a couple steps back.

That being said - if Frawley goes and we get Fyfe with the compensatory pick - it would be hard to argue we wouldn't be better off...

If his future is as a KPD then we'd be mad not to do everything in our power to keep him. If his future at MFC is as a 3rd tall forward behind Dawes and Hogan then we'd find better value with a compo pick and the cash in the cap.

With all this though (better defense this year) bear in mind we are yet to play Collingwood, Hawthorn, Geelong, Fremantle or Port.

I hope he stays . free agency is a test for our club and its culture . Some will go regardless but hopefully the better players stay and fulfill their ambitions with the dees.

What it all leaning towards is how the group work as a cohesive unit....you know , like how a good coach does it. Now ,more than ever recently the value of individuals , those certain highly valued ( by self ) is now seen in its true light.

Chip can stay or go.

You thought this was bad next year garland, trengove, Nathan Jones, Howe, jamar, viney , Hogan , Salem are all out of contract

Garland will stay. Trengove has yet to improve beyond health limitations. I take a very different view to some. I know

Jones is MELBOURNE...never leave. Howe...come or go. Jamar....sorry your point. Viney....eats red and blue. Hogan.

his contribution to date is ? Salem. just got here, wont leave

Frawley will regain full fitness, have a few really good games where he dominates his opponents and all of a sudden this thread will turn into one where he's a keep at all costs player.

I don't believe for one minute he's gone.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
