Paul Roos on AFL360 every Monday

I used to hate listening to Roosy, he was just to bais towards the swans, it's amazing how things change when he is on side.

He drove me nuts with his constant: 'Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, O rose smelling poo Sydney that can do no wrong' cheerleading.

I will probably have a different opinion of his cheerleading style these days.

More positive exposure for our football club. For too long now there has been a lopsided negative approach to reporting surrounding us, granted a lot has been of our own making, however it is increadably refreshing to hear nothing but positive news! Loving the new Melbourne FC and hopefully the media has nothing but positives to report on as the season gets underway.

Fine I'll say it.

Do not like this.

Throughout the period we were chasing Roos he said time and time again how busy and stressful an AFL coaching job is. Now he signs on and he's got extra time to do media work every week?

Yes we need to be in the public eye for exposure but we have to win games. That means a coach who isn't burnt out and who isn't having to get involved with too much media. Luckily Robbo is a complete light weight so won't ask too much tough questions and Gerard is pretty respectful to his guests. Also lucky Bomber is staying on (for now) so mainly they can both talk about their glory days and deflect from their teams. But overall I still dislike it.

This will take up literally the time it takes to do the slot on the Monday night show. You can tell that Rocket, Bomber etc did no preparation whatsoever so I doubt Roos will be any different. The impact this will have on his coaching is all but zero. The potential gains however are obvious.

Major overreaction but you're entitled to your opinion. I see it as only having a positive impact.

Because Roos would otherwise be working at the club 8pm on a Monday night, after starting at 7am all season? Just how hard do you expect the man to work? Should he be running handball drills until the very prints wear off his fingers? Maybe you can start timing how much the man sleeps and inform the club how better to delegate the time spent by their multi-million dollar investment?

Give me a break. He'd be doing this in the very limited free time he has, as a representative of the MFC, and with the MFC's full blessing. The exposure he brings to the club is invaluable here, and is a huge part of the reason we signed him up -- he has a strong media profile with Fox viewers.

And I thought the idiotic complaints about his pre-booked African holiday were bad. Sheesh!

I am very happy to have Roos on the show. I record nearly all the monday night shows and would only hear a whisper about Melbourne when some sort of disaster was happening. Now to have Roos on maybe a bloke like Nathan Jones gets a little exposure and the respect he deserves from the football world.

Lighten up, 30 minutes at 8:00 on Monday night will hardly impinge on his ability to coach us.

Perhaps we can stick him in a ziplock bag when not physically coaching just to keep him fresh.

I look forward to his insights.

Positive, last few years we got trashed in the media, now everyone will want us to be the feel good story, I have no problem with that, had enough of getting kicked on the ground. Also i reckon this will bring in memberships and as WJ pointed out, sponsors.

You're barking up the wrong tree 'master'. The club needs all the positive stories it can get; the last few years the only way we have hit the news is for bad news and more bad news.

I won't be surprised if we still get a lot of references to Sydney from him as they seemed to be Roos benchmark. I have no problem with that at all as I have always admired what he achieved with the Swans.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
