I generally like Peter Ryan's articles but this one highlights why many of us have little faith about the dissemination of news about injuries sustained by our players.

The article covers his foot injury and the fact that he "had a solid block of training before Christmas, so he can afford to be managed through January, running alone at training and rebuilding confidence in his body".

What it doesn't tell us about is why, after putting in that "solid block" did he go back into the rehab group? I thought it was a hamstring but in light of this article, it seems to be a bit of a mystery - does anyone know?

Medically you think it would be yes or no, the hamstring injury was reported before Xmas ? so that would put him into rehab group, Is it a confidence issue, only he and medical group will know that, he is training and stating he will be in the main group next week..If it's confidence i hope he gets it soon..

To me that doesn't indicate anything. Possibly an oversight on Ryan's part and that the "can afford to be managed through January" indicates that his hamstring issue is not really affecting his progress in any great measure.

I suspect your first sentence probably tells the story. Sloppy journalism. If the problem was actually his foot, rather than being mentioned as a throw-away line at the start of the article, you'd expect it to be followed up in detail in the article. But it wasn't.

Has to be the hamstring, if it was related to his foot injury he would be off his feet, and in a moon boot surely.

Perhaps he has been asked to try and adjust his gait/running style somewhat as a result of the foot injury, and by running @ training and doing lap after lap not only gives him confidence in his body, but is getting him used to running differently as well...

This is all speculation though, the article mentioned that it's likely he is back training with the main group next week, Dawes is training with them now, and is Hogan still rehab grp? if so I don't reckon he will be far away either.

He hurt his hamstring training over the Xmas break

He's got a body similar to Balsa Wood unfortunately, he's a day to day proposition .

I don't think that's the case at all. I do think he attacks the ball with little regard for his body a bit like his old teammate Johnno Brown and that opens him up to injury. I still have the image of him falling on his head at the 'G'.

I was at the raining session just before Chistmas and he went off feeling his hammy and a quick chat with the medical staff. That was around 5 weeks ago and at this time of year I think any hammy strain is a week or so off for physio and healing and a progressve retun over 4-5 weeks depending on the nature of the strain. He showed no sign of any foot issues in the pre-christmas session.

I don't have a problem with a big bloke taking a bit longer than the usual 3 weeks to get over a hammy whilst out of season but it's the silence from the club that concerns me. It might be a lack of communication with the members or something more sinister but the silence leads one to suspect that something is being covered up.

Nothing's changed - Melbourne pleased with injured trio's progress.

Demons football manager Josh Mahoney said the trio was progressing well, with the NAB Challenge starting on February 12 and round one of the premiership season on March 14.

He said Clark was seemingly over a foot injury and had only been held back by "soft tissue" issues, while Hogan had only had a "hiccup ... with his knee" when he landed awkwardly during a marking contest earlier this month. Dawes, who had knee surgery, would "join in full training probably late next week".

However the later pic shows a pretty impressive prosthesis. Looks almost real :-)))
