The Van Berios Brothers are from the West Perth FC so I wish Nathan a speedy recovery.

Well he needed same-day surgery so I'm thinking it was pretty serious.

I think that's more because the surgeon was available and it's a pretty straight forward surgery. Just sew it all together and jobs done and he can't start rehab quicker.

It's a serious injury because the calf muscle (which forms the achilles tendon) is out of action. So you have to take your time to make sure the tendon heals and then you have to build up the muscle as well. I think in the past some older players (who struggle with calf injuries anyway) are never the same after an achilles. That may have been the case. Either way I think NVB's season is all but over.

As is the point of this thread the crows will in some ways now miss Vince more. But they have Dangerfield, Sloane, Thompson, Douglas and a fair raft of decent young mids (Lyons, Grigg, Kerridge, Crouch) who will get more of a shot now.

They might be regretting delisting Aidan Riley as well.

They're saying 3 months .... If he is back in 3 months then I would be investigating them for every drug under the sun for Nathan. Swallow did his against us and still isn't back full training. Shocking injury to a very good player and I'm sure we all wish him all the best.

Sounds like 3 months might be the new 2 weeks.

Achilles injuries are very serious aren't they?

If it is a ruptured Achilles, it is a lot worse than a knee reco. Longer recovery and ongoing effects. Terrible news

they latest report said its gonna heel

I can't stand the Crows, well their supporters anyway. So I'm happy to see them remain down the lower end of the ladder.

As for the injury I wouldn't wish an Achilles rupture (or ACL) on any player... hmmm maybe Harry O oops I mean Heritier Lumumba or... Jake King... or Dane Swan... :D

On a serious note, it does sound bizarre as to how it was done with the training sled going into it, poor bugger.

A ruptured Achilles is NOT worse than an ACL reconstruction. It is simpler and quicker to full capacity. Surgery is immediate to repair the tendon which will not be up for full weight bearing (body weight) for 3 months. He may play by July/august. Russell Robertson was the last MFC player to rupture his Achilles. NVB will return to football, no problem.

He will but unless he recuperates perfectly and does well with his rehab, it's likely not until 2015. Unfortunate, because he's a good leader at the Crows. I suppose it will give Dangerfield the opportunity to take the mantle and I'm sure he's up to it.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
