The 'like' button

The only point of the like button was to show if posters were interested in the content of the post that they liked.

I guess we all get caught up in the personalities of the board and we've probably all, at some stage, "liked "a post that was derogatory towards a poster we weren't fond of.

Anyone who looks at the "like" button as some sort of popularity thing needs their head read.

It is a practical and often useful function for recognising how much agreement there is with particular sides of a debate. It is also a bit of fun for recognising a clever or funny call. I'm noticing its absence.

Very true. I will occasionally scroll through a thread and if its not grabbing my interest just look for the "liked" posts to see what got other people's interest.

Not to mention the fact that he seems to have forgotten that he had not been averse to using the "like" button himself (particularly when someone took his side in an argument).

yep it was a simple way of conveying an acceptance or agreement etc without recourse to vaporising even more pixels !

It's a good and quick way of appreciating other posters contributions. Whether they be about training, matches, witty remarks etc..

From a personal perspective, its hardly ego inflating but still nice to know you're input is recognised.

I'm just glad it's because of a technical issue and not because of a facebook lawsuit.

I guess no like button means more posts on here (albeit shorter ones) and we can look at posts more objectively.

I'd like to see it return though. Maybe next week
