WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAYDEN HUNT

Wowee the kid can run!

good marking skills above shoulders and good kicking skills. He is listed as 187cm with a massive growth spurt he had this year I wouldn't be surprise if he gets to 190cm..

Would make a good wingman half back flanker.

He's got zip and confidence from that package.

The chances of someone this deep in the draft making it are slim. I hope we can get a glimpse in the NAB Cup.

Yep speculative. High risk, high reward. Obviously thought someone was going to nab him down the line.

Maybe Roos can start his own Melbourne Academy after we appoint the successor and he can develop Smokies like this.

We have already started this, with Andrew Nichol and Brad Miller, when I spoke to Brad he said he was going to work exclusively with the young guys once the saason is up and running alongside Nichol and of course Welsh at Casey, from what I saw last year at Casey they get along reallly well, so we are already down that track hence the comment from Taylor re 'the development program we have in place"

I know a little about Jayden. Missed a year of footy in year 11 due to a back injury but returned this year and is seen as having significant upside having starred in APS all star type game. Smooth mover and smart bloke. Was captain of the school tennis team and mother was an athlete of reasonable note. Driven.

Just watched his highlights and have to say his pace is electric. Love that we have taken a genuine punt. Speed was obviously the trait underlined on the recruiters whiteboard this year.

Not quite electric but close. He represented an APS school in the open 100 metres sprint which means he's fast.

This is the type of recruit that earn recruiters their money. Finding value late in the draft from players that have circumstances that cause them to drop - things like injury or in Hunts case, late physical development.

Very true. I really like the look of him but time will tell.

VERY SURPRISED:

Played with him as a junior and saw potential but lack of competitiveness due to size.

Tagged me one game - and for memory I had a day out.

However, he clearly wasn't drafted for his inside grunt work.

I did see him a month ago at my exit meeting and was shocked to see his development body-wise in the space of 12 months.

Tall kid, so I guess I look forward to seeing him develop.

So what number were you drafted at, or hoping for a rookie spot?

If he answered "pick 40 this year" no doubt he'd suddenly be your favourite poster and you'd PM him nude selfies.

What a stupid (and unnecessarily snide) comment from Satry. His desire to protect 'his boys' from criticism is almost pathological. Jeez a player that hasn't even had his first training session and Satry feels the need to protect him from perceived criticism.

I say perceived because i for one didn't read InRooswetrust's comments as particularly critical, indeed he emphasized he was surprised (as opposed to bagging Hunt).

Besides he was talking from a perspective of having actually played against Hunt (and for that matter played on him) so i imagine he might have a better idea than Satyr might from the 2 mins of highlights on DeeTv.

Or perhaps Satry has been watching Hunt train all year, is good mates and is confident that Hunt is telling the truth when he says he's a gun.

Couldn't agree more.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
