Tiwi Bomber Jurrah aims to kickstart comeback

Hopefully, this will be the start of Liam's regeneration. Last year, ABC1 replayed NTFL games at some ungodly hour at night in the middle of the week. Are they doing that this year?

Happy to see him play again even in a bombers jumper.

WJ,

I think you will be able to get them on iview, even if they are not replayed in Victoria, I think on ABC2.

Hopefully, the fact of the comeback indicates a change in attitude and he has now got his mind right. A mentally and physically fit LM I'd rookie in a heart beat. Any chance Wonna could be persuaded to do the same? A fit and firing Wonnamiri would certainly solve our small forward challenges. I think the loss of these two was the start of the Bailey era decline. If Roos could get them up and firing, it would make things very interesting.

Just imagine a fit LM as the FOURTH tall forward. His ground skills are such too that he can play like a small as well of course. He and his little mate Wonna would be quite something in that forward line. We can only dream!

No the dream is over.

Follow him on Facebook, regularly his friends tell him to stop drink driving or smoking up on his status' but he just thinks it's the media's fault he's in this mess.

It's sad but he's nothing more than a disillusioned drug addict these days, and it would bode well for our club to stay as far away as possible from a football standpoint. Brilliant if we can still over support and guidance he needs it, but let's move on.

Will be interesting to see how he goes, but you are right, I think it is time for everyone to forget the possibility of him ever pulling on the red and blue again.

Ahh...LJ...

Let me say that having been in Darwin/Palmerston the last month I read alot of footy in the local rag.

This stood out for me personally in regards to Liams state of mind with footy.

I cant quite think who the coach was of Liams team currently being the Central Redtails maybe...Greg Mcadam?

However the coach did say that "a Liam Jurrah that trains twice a week will be a much more attractive proposition to play week in week out".

So if he cant even be dedicated to training twice a week then how will he ever have a career again.

Wasted Talent..

And to think before all this happened he won Northern Territory young Australian of the year.

If that is the case, then clearly he is not for us. Wish him the best in whatever he does.

Presumably before any decline there is an incline. I must have missed it.

Not to turn this into a Bailey thread, but we were in finals contention up until the last couple of weeks of 2010...he did have us improving. Not quite sure where the decline began, but for the record, Jurrah's issues became publicized after Bailey had left.

OK - fair point. But there has been so much "bad" over the last 6 years it's been hard to remember the "good".

who says so?

You can have a decline following mediocrity

there are many posters testament to this :)

Spoke to liams cousin Darren Talbot and he mentioned that Liam two Mentors in Bailey and Stynes were the big reasons he was doing so well with his life and football. After they left he was really shattered and then Neeldy came in he had absolutely no time for Liam or his issues and family.

Darren had to fly down numerous times to be with Liam and every time he approached Neeld, he found him to be very unapproachable and cold.

I would love to see him back, and by the sounds of it DD36 all he needs is a mentor in the AFL and Roosy could provide that.

He is a tall forward who plays like a small forward and a tall, a very exciting player.

If he can pull his head in (which at the tiwi bombers, i think he will) we could pick him up as a rookie.

Not sure what I thought would happen when I opened this thread.

Now I realise that I could not give a [censored] about Liam Jurrah.

Just as sad is the lack of compassion and understanding from people that think the challenges faced by kids from remote Aboriginal communities such as Liam are as simple as a person staying off the grog.

Liam's life back home had his AFL career in the balance the entire time, long before he got on the grog.

I think that was fairly obvious. Unfortunately.

Good luck to Liam, hope he finds some kind of peace, whatever he chooses to do with his life.

Mate I have been giving compassion for the last half century and we are now way further done the mine than we were 50 years ago.

It does not look like it is working to me.

I have no understanding of remote area people's problems

but I known intimately two families in Melbourne with drug and gambling problems.

Compassion and understanding seems to have had bugger all success in these cases.
