Victor Ergo. Gave up footy to write books unfortunately.

Could have been a contender.

write books? Let me guess "a long, long time Ergo in a galaxy far away"

I like Billings. Looks to be all class, a real natural. Also like Sheed. Displays good leadership and looks tough. Freeman's ball drop worries me. Also a lack of poise. KK is a magnificent kick but we want pure mids. Salem looks good but there's not much X-factor.

Ergo, Ergo, therefore art thou Ergo?

I think it is Wherefore art thou.... but who the hell is ergo?

No idea who Ergo may be.... but if you look it up in a dictionary, you will find that "ergo" also means "therefore"... hence (also another word meaning therefore), the use of therefore in place of wherefore.

Go on then genius, tell who you'd take instead...

If available, I'd take Billings, Lennon, Salem and Taylor over Freeman.

All 4 of those players have far superior skills and balance than Freeman.

I'm not on the hype train this year, so i'll be giving Freeman a miss, he is no Patrick Dangerfield.

I'm on my 3rd or 4th run-through on video of Salem, Bontempelli, Freeman and Crouch.

I think they are really the only four we're likely to take.

Obviously a big one could fall down, but from the position we sit which is just following the mock drafts these appear to be our best options.

From that, and like everyone else all I'm going off is about 24 minutes of video and 3 TAC Cup games I went to, but I'd love Freeman to be a Demon.

Watching the way he demands the football as the straight running kicker reminds me heaps of Stevie J.

Even his kicking action is so similar to him.

We've all bemoaned drafting players who clearly have or had talent, there is a reason we drafted them in the top 20, but it comes down to the desire to want to be great and work at it that now see's them delisted or worthless to us.

Freeman is the complete opposite of that. He has an undeniable arrogance of knowing he's quicker than everyone else on the ground and I love it.

We haven't had a true fast line breaker in years and years. He's a clearance specialist and as such isn't afraid of the hard ball. He fills our 3 biggest needs - a midfielder, hard body, outside spread.

He has goal sense, and watching him kick it long into 50, to the preferred side of Tom Boyd trusting him to outmuscle his opponent is already giving me great vision of placing it on Hogan or Clarke's right arm and watching the aforementioned lean on his opponent and take a contested mark.

That said, whilst I may claim to sometimes know a better structure for our team than Mark Neeld did round 10, me and I guess all of us just don't have the viewing hours ... If he's as consistent as his highlights package though, I'll be dancing in my own tears on Draft Day if we get 'Freo'.

He's Art Vandelay's cousin. Art was AA U16 quite a few years back but just didn't kick on as many hoped and expected.

Still a bit of a smokey for our 3rd pick, according to sources.

Freeman does look bloody good.

Yeah, too bad the recruiters from all the clubs have already decided and that we are going to take Crouch.

lol

Billings and Lennon are basically running half forwards. Do you think that is what we need? Ivebeen pretty underwhelmed by Billings but rate Lennon mainly because I've seen him play in the northern league. Salem does look talented but how tall is he?

freeman's disposal is my main concern but his speed and ability to get his own footy do look worthy

another opinion on Freeman ...

"Freeman is incredibly quick and powerful and compares himself to Dangerfield and Luke Shuey. Freeman can find the ball and he uses it really well. He’s an under rated kick and a real force as an outside player. He seems to have an AFL ready body. I’d like to see him try get the inside ball a little more, but other than that; there are no outstanding flaws to his game. Freeman’s combine was incredible – second in the 20m sprint with 2.82 seconds, he came 10th in the 3km run, 10th in the beep test with 14.10 and first in the repeat sprints".

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
