Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A gold pass at crown , two packets of crisps and some breathing room on the list.

in a nutshell....not a lot !!

Would not be keen on seeing them leave.

They both have something we need. Blease with his electric pace and Tappscott being as hard as nails. Both have had less than adequate coaching and development IMO and I believe they will flourish under Roos if given the opportunity.

Could their value get any lower than it is right now? I'm not against trading them, but continually trading away players when their value is at its lowest just continues the cycle.

None of the players have gone on to perform at other clubs.

Rivers and Moloney excluded, but both performed her anyway and were FA.

Rivers was a gun for MFC.

The alternative is keeping them, which is also continuing the cycle if they don't add value.

I tend to agree with this

Blease may have some trade value but Tapscott probably none.

Better off seeing what they can achieve under the new Roos regime rather than putting them out for scavengers on hard rubbish night

Edit Blease not auto correct Blasé

Thats probably the fall back position should no one bite but with Blease you have a 1 to 1-1/2 trick pony that puts in cameos and the other a man mountain that like a mountain doesnt do a lot .

Sometimes the space inside the garage is worth more than the stuff you put on the kerb.

That is because they were not good enough in the first place.

Blease and Tapscott have produced next to nothing more than the odd quarter in the odd game.

If you look at our list there are about 5 -6 players that are not touchable.

The rest I would trade for the right deal.

The last two years has shown that the majority are not AFL standard and are taking us nowhere.

Standalone trade - not much value, but they could offer a genuine sweetener to a bigger deal with the right club who sees some value based on an assumption of poor development at MFC, more so than say Strauss, Jetta and Bail who have zero value.

Blease could be a replacement roommate for Scully in some sort of deal for Shiel?

Although if that isn't an option I'd prefer to keep him, he goes and we become 50% slower.

I wonder if Richmond are still into Tapscott, give us Nahas in return. Not that I rate him, but he's more use to us than Tapscott.

I'll be the first to ask - who exactly is this "Gilbert Gardiner" character. Reputable or what?

Tapscott would be no loss - a shame because I was elated when we drafted him and even more elated when he was near BOG on debut. Just too slow.

Blease I would rather see hang around for one more year. He was starting to look pretty good in 2012 but has stagnated again.

Like I said, I'm not against trading them, but what I said stands. It's more a lament that every year we seem to have a few bits of slop left that we hope to trade once it's clear to everyone that they have not a lot to give. Case in point is Jamar. Old's sweetener idea is the most palatable with Blease and Tapscott.

Anyhow, I understand that getting on the front foot and trading guys while they still have value is often unpopular (Woey, TJ) and can sometimes backfire (Bishop, Jolly), but the time for fist-pumping at hearing Blease or Tapscott's name on the trade table was 1-2 years ago.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
