Lingerie football is demeaning to women in that it identifies their sex appeal as their principal value.

Consider this simple fact - a lot of women much better at football than any of those taking the LFL field have no prospect of playing to a TV audience or on a major 'stage'.

Same as it would be demeaning if turning up to work in nothing but designer lingerie was the only way to be a woman lawyer, doctor, brickie's labourer, salesperson, journalist, pilot, police officer, teacher, politician, morning TV show host, weather reporter, assembly line worker... and so on.

There it is, that's the 'objectification' issue in a nutshell. Not hard to understand and surely irrefutable.

Also, yes, of course it is time to sack the Richmond Board. It is ALWAYS time to sack the Richmond board.

This thread got bumped because of Jake King. I really don't want to go down the LFL debate path again but you've just claimed that objectification of women is demeaning without much clarification. So are you therefor saying we need to remove all aspects of sexuality in human existence less it demean people? .

Jake King is a dwarf who enjoys the company of older men in leather and that is his choice.

Caro Wilson ,although a harpy and a very bitchy type of Yoda with a wig on is actually accurate with her info but the problem is she is getting spoon fed by HQ and is skewing the outcomes between the AFL and its member clubs.

Gary March is an undisclosed bankrupt and his company Concept Sports should ring alarm bells-never deal with them.

Lingerie football is a gratuitous perve but some women enjoy AFL for exactly the same reason so in this day and age WGAF?

What was the topic again- oh yeah, sack the board.

Some very valid points made from both sides of the arguement re Lingerie Football.

What impact could this have on lingerie hurdling?

And if they ban Michelle, then yes, by all means sack the Richmond board!!!

The feminists whinge that Lingerie football objectifies women, but if women weren't allowed to play this sport - then the feminists would find something else to whinge about.

No matter what, they'll always find something to whinge about, if Lingerie football was banned, they'd whinge football is a male dominated sport and all women want is equal opportunity.

It is called Legends Football League in Aust, and the only thing I'd be worried about for these ladies is the massive concussion risks that are associated with Gridiron/contact sports as a whole let alone them playing in those plastic helmets! Not that I have watched any of it....

i have to laugh at a football club or any business who thinks they can tell their players/employees who they can socialize and spend time with

Jake King might be a little midget [censored], but he can be friends with whoever he likes

The LLF is an an event that involves women dressed in lingerie (note not sporting attire but clothes that are designed to specifically sexually titillate) performing for the gratification of men (in an event owned and promoted by a man) that promotes the stereotype of women as sexual objects (objectifying women in the process and making a mockery of serious women's sports).

I know it's great isn't it?

Seriously though who is being taken advantage of, the women who choose to voluntarily participate and get paid to do so or the men who pay to gawp at them?

Hey, I was only kidding about sacking the Board and if Jake King is a life long friend of this bloke and the association doesn't affect his football then who am I to break up the friendship?

On the other hand, if Richmond have given him an ultimatum about the relationship and he's ignored the ultimatum, then it's pretty weak on their behalf and they'll probably have to deal with the repercussions one day.

Aren't we all lucky that this has happened while the First Lady of Football is having a break?

Interesting that Herald Sun headline on this story originally read:

"Jake King's career in balance after the Richmond forward was again caught socializing with ex-bandidos boss Toby Mitchell"

This morning has been downgraded to:

"Richmond forward Jake King again caught socializing with ex-bandidos boss Toby Mitchell

Seems that someone at the HS jumped the gun a bit

No matter what, they'll always find something to whinge about.

Given what we see overnight from India (gang rape of 20 year old girl by 13 men for falling in love with the 'wrong man'), and the violence perpetrated on women in our society, I'd say feminists and people more generally have quite a bit to whinge about over the treatment of women.

My, you are having trouble adjusting to the 20th century, let alone 21st aren't you. Good luck, you'll need it.

Who made the comment that 60's and 70's were more sexist.

Those men are still around and they are now our captains of industry.

Hmmm, would love to know where the equal opportunity exists in women playing lingerie football... unless of course you believe that the AFL should have the men running around in their jocks only?

Does that mean men should get the equal opportunity to play in their underwear?

350lb linemen wearing tight pants isn't enough for you Rob? Concussion would be the least of the NFL's issues is the fatties strip down to their jocks.

I have nothing against individuals who may have unsavoury friends but the problem of corruption, drugs and gambling in sport is huge and getting worse. A line in the sand has to be drawn somewhere. What do we value the most, the rights of highly paid professionals who may be tainted or the integrity of the game? I believe professional sports need to take a zero tolerance stance but needs consistent across the board enforcement to ensure fairness and consistency. And if that impinges on the rights of elite sport persons to freedom of association then so be it.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
