Maverick Weller

Agree ... but We will need to offer a listed opportunity as he will have other suitors

Should be easy enough.

Two year deal and bring him on board as a designated defensive half forward. Get him to stick on the oppositions most dangerous rebounding defender and always make them accountable by playing through Mav as much as possible.

Sounds like a pretty good deal for Mav to me!

Should we go for him?

I am on the fence about it, surely we have more to gain, than lose though.

Surely only as a rookie? Hopefully we can use our picks #40 and #57 to fill needs (after taking an elite midfielder at #9) and we still need to keep a space for Cross on our senior List for the next year (or two)!

Yeah, throw him on the rookie list and give him a few games, if he impresses upgrade him to the senior list, if he goes ordinary delist him.

Any idea why he was delisted in the first place? Attitude? Unprofessional? or just the need for the 3 minimum list changes?

If it's the later I would be happy to see him picked up in the PSD.

I'd say he wouldn't be able to cut into a midfield like that, especially now that Jack Martin is coming through

He feels the need, the need for match payments.

The delisted free agency period going from Nov 1 -13 is a joke. No time to evaluate sifting through discards and actually find the one you want. Time to let delisted players sign on to a club as training players and train up until Christmas before either a draft or allowing those clubs to add a player to their list.

Weller was a talented 17 year old. Skills and athleticism haven't looked amazing at GC. Certainly hasn't looked like a half back flanker or back pocket. Probably more of a depth midfield type who may or may not develop in to a player.

Why not allow him 2 solids months in Nov and Dec at least to train with a club and prove his fitness and talent. If it doesn't work out then he's in top shape for state league or other footy and he's been paid AFL level wage for that training. Plenty of time to start a new studies or work in the new year.

Jack Hannath preferred us.

Didn't stop Freo

And it was the reverse with Mitch Clark!

Said to have nominated the Saints as his preferred destination.

He hasn't nominated the Saints, just said he felt good about a meeting with them a few weeks ago. He followed that comment with "I'm happy to go wherever. As long as the club wants me there, I'll give my 100 per cent."

Thank god he nominated tha Saints, now this nonsense can stop.

Ya'll realise Weller is just another Bartram?

Again, raise the bar people. We have enough spuds still running around. We want to improve don't we?

Cross

Tyson

Vince

Michie

There's a theme. Roos wants to add talent.

Mav Weller... Lols...

A little harsh on Barty there STMJ...one of our best negaters, but his offensive side was a bit naff i agree.

No problem with raising the bar and I too detect a theme. get the overall team better than average ( or worse case...average ) and give it a kicker with a handful of gems.

BB. If we want a premiership, we're going to need to be harsh. Bartram's tenacity and no fear approach was admirable but in the AFL, you need to bring more to the table. For too long have I seen mediocre players represent the MFC and it's infected supporters. They've become used to having mediocre players and so they stick up for them whenever a bad word is said. I'm sure Bartram is a lovely guy. But I'm strictly talking football here and I want to leave all emotional pre-dispositions aside for the betterment of our club.

I want a god damn premiership.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
