Until i see a qoute from Adams saying he wants to go to Richmond or Collingwood then we are still in the race and this is nothing but a nothing article.

Lol, you are mad

Perhaps it makes sense for the Dees to make Adams an outrageously high offer contingent on him going into the pre season draft. Retaining our high draft picks would be worth more than paying him and extra $100k or $200k per year and we would be guaranteed to get him.

I have seen or heard somewhere that we offered him about the same deal as we offered Dawsy but that was back before we got Roos

$400K per is a lot, but if we need to do it to get him over the line, I'd do it.

PSD, that is.

Worth the extra outlay that way.

$400K IS a lot, but we will need to offer more to beat other clubs to someone like Adams. Even though Roos is on board we still aren't a hugely attractive place to be... yet.

I'd rather try and work something out with GWS with Pick #2 to get him, although if they play hard ball then I'd be happy to get him in the PSD.

As I mentioned earlier, if the market is offering Adams $400k per year, we should offer him $500k per year on the condition he goes into the pre season draft. It may be overs but retaining our top picks are worth far more than $100k.

I'd rather get him for nothing in PSD. We have pick 2 after them. I'd offer big bucks as mooted upfront then staggered 2 scare them off.

Working on the theory we lose Colin Sylvia, and gain pick 21, band three compo would pick 21 and Mark Jamar be enough to get the deal over the line?

keeping in mind the threat of PSD if he nominates us we hold all the cards.

Swap pick 2 for Adams and Pick 10 ... thoughts

Try to get Adams and either of Crouch/Sheed with pick 10. That adds midfield grunt x2 to Viney and Jones.

I reckon the best bet of quick improvement is offering Adams $400,000-450,000 over three to four years and convincing him into the PSD. Then use pick #2 on Swallow, plus a first rounder back. Use this pick back to nab a Crouch. Sounds fanciful, but pretty darn good to me.

Viney, Jones, Adams, Swallow, Crouch, Toumpas, Trengove. There's a good mixture of good disposal, ball-winning ability and hardness. Inject a little bit of pace (will Blease ever become anything?) and a certain J Watts on the wing and who knows.

I think a tapscott or strauss shiuld be put on the table to give us more currency for mids

I think that's where Howe should be put. On the trade table.

It's a club fabric thing. We don't want another Junior situation on our hands. He seems to be entrenched within the club. For mine though, I'd be ecstatic with that deal. There will be some though that can't see past his high leaping and admittedly elite hands. Perhaps he could play an O'Keefe role, but I just don't see it. We have Hogan coming in, Clark and Dawes down there too. He appears to have value and as rpfc keeps saying (and I concur), we need assets to trade. He's one of them. Float him and see what clubs are offering. If nothing comes of it, at least we'll see if he has a second or third gear to push, with a thing or two to prove next year.

Now that makes a lot of sense.

We are hopeless when it comes to using low picks wisely.

And if we're lucky, Dunstan or Jones will be available for our second rounder (maybe we take both - if Sylvia decides to go).

Adams, Crouch, Dunstan, Jones Jnr, Viney, Toumpas and Jones. We all thought the same thing back in 2009, but surely, that might have the makings of a good midfield.

Everybody still seems to be factoring getting a pick for Sylvia notwithstanding the fact that Roos expressively announced that him and Watts were part of his plan for Melbourne. Are we suggesting that our football judgement is sounger than Roos or that Sylvia has no ego or love for the jumper to want to stay with his teamates under Roos (as did Watts)?

My ideas are just based on history, i'm not sure I can remember anyone putting talks on hold this long and staying, I get that it's a big call for him though, probably his last real contract and he has a right to take his time, and my preference is certainly for him to stay.

GWS may be more interested in a pick than a player so we better hope the are not interested in Shaw now he is on the market.

Hopefully they view him as too much to handel and Adams prefers what we offer anyway.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
