Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Hyperthetical, Essendon play finals and win the first final, then are found guilty, does the 9th place team and the team knocked out in the finals receive compo?

I can't understand how they can be allowed to play finals with this hanging over their heads.

you mean, if they get 36 infraction notices and 36 bans and cant field a team?

wont happen. they will just appeal until october.

Now ...theres probably absolutely nothing to read into this :rolleyes:

Will Evans, the son of former Essendon boss David Evans, quits Bombers just as Hird set to return

some curiousities:

In an intriguing twist of timing, the son of former club chairman David Evans has tendered his resignation at Essendon and will leave the club just as James Hird returns from suspension.

This is utter nonsense

Coincidentally Will Evans has just completed a short trainee-ship prior to long-time planned travel and study

Some of these journo's would fish for stories in the middle of the Nullabor Plain ........... and tell you they're about to hook a Great White!

Essendon supporters and other fans who complain about the length of time, and the burden of proof that this process has taken should take note:

The wife of Steve Hooker ( the pole vaulter) - Ekaterina Kostetskaya has just been give a 2 year ban for "use/attempted use of a prohibited substance/method"

Note the words "use or attempted use"

Importantly the WADA ban was as a result of an incident which occurred at the world championships in Adage on.....30 August 2011!!!

It has taken 3 years to get to finality, so Essendon could have another 18 months to go.

Don't complain about the time, it is the same for ALL athletes. WADA just make sure the process is watertight.

Must be giving them Windy Hillers a lovely warm and fuzzy feeling !!!

Presumably, however, Ekaterina failed a drug test. It's much easier and simpler for the authorities to act using methods of detection rather than deduction. In the latter, there's far more room for error in the process.

Went to lunch with four Bomber supporters yesterday - they are all way over James - staggering how a recent absolute hero (and justifiably so - a superstar player) has so quickly fallen from grace.

Good to hear some Essendon supporters at least have a sense of right and wrong strong enough to overcome their natural inclinations.

god i hope this goes to court

Either way we cant lose, either it goes to court and everything is exposed, or the Bombers settle out o court and are down another 1 million+ dollars

this made me laugh the most

Opening part of the trial will be televised,

I simply can't see how Essendon could have a good enough case to have potentially a huge amount of evidence of wrongdoing thrown out

so when the bombers lose their court of arbitration for sport appeals against the bans handed down by asada (and i know im fast forwarding massively here, but thats what will end up happening i think - they will lose their fed court appeal, asada will issue show cause notices and then bans, and essendon will appeal them)

will everyone sit back and go, well, hirdy and essendon actually did all that?

or will they say "ASADA are useless" as a result of all the negative spin press that essendon have generated?

i mean, we have media suggesting that we should break away from WADA ffs.

Will never happen, would lose every cent of state/federal funding

Just read Mark Robinson's Article in the HUN.

Hmmmm now let me get this right. Essendon has 2 court cases running concurrently. One to fight the the allegations of wrong doing from ASADA because the club believes they did nothing wrong and the investigation was illegal and should never have happened.

The other stating that Robinson (their employee) deserved to be dimissed on the back of the allegations that they insist are false. They are arguing that Robinison deserves to be dismissed when his direct supervisor who oversaw his activity at the club and received at least one letter from the club doctor warning him of serious issues, who also accepted punishment for serious AFL offences over the same allegations for which Robinson was dissmissed remains employed and is vigorously defended by the same employer.

????????????????????????????????????? Speachless. This will be settled out of court IMO.

Im not sure it will. It might have traveled too far already and got its own head of steam.

I for one cant believe Essendon/Hird/Circus-Dumb even wanted this near a court. Not if they really truly thought it through. I can only think they are so blindsided by their own temerity that they cant see the bleeding obvious...i.e that Mack Truck !!

There are just too many cans of worms here. Little and comrades are opening Pandoras Box.

Its like the scene in Indiana Jones where they open the Ark.

Still Golden boy is attracted to glittery things

For mine its just about to get really interesting. It'll be like a train wreck unravelling !!!

toot toot !!

I can almost hear that other one cackling as she savours the idea of the juicy morsels that will spill as a result of the blood bath that will occur.

Robbo will be last seen waddling away from a D Murphy's, Crill Wilson will mop up and rewrite history according to her mantras with another 'told you so' dialog , Parrot Barret will paraphrase everyone else and try to look relevant. Smith might pit out a tasty item and attempt an insight with value. Ralph ...well hes Ralph...who cares. All the rest of the Windy Hill lackeys will disappear into the ether like spectres vanished. Flanagan will come out and write the football story of the year about a Little Boy Lost !!

Knobbo in today's Hun

Robinson’s lawyers on Monday filed 17 subpoenas in the Supreme Court seeking documents, emails, text messages and file notes from a wide-ranging group of people.

They include McLachlan, Demetriou, Evans, Tania Hird, Robson, Essendon president Paul Little and this author.

By the way, while I respect the law, I treat information obtained on the basis of confidentiality as sacrosanct — just like the head in footy — and I’m not in the habit of betraying sources.

The head doesn't seem to be sacrosanct when it comes to spoiling things though.

The only reason he wouldn't mention who a source was in such a serious matter is if that person would have a negative effect on himself or the bombers, almost certain it's James and Tanya Hird.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward.
