How long to sack new Coach thread.

Bingo! Players remove coaches not board members. Wehave wanted not to blame the players, its always the boards or coaches fault etc etc. Well the board doesn't pull on the boots, is now different, the admin is different, the coach is different, but we are still soft and stink! Where could the problem possibly be?

It's all through the joint. Top to Bottom.

We need a clean slate.

Only the first letter of a person name needs to be in capitals, if all are in capitals it means to are shouting that word.

And if you are shouting it, it reads quite strangely.

Freedom of the press Gorgoroth. If the poster wants to use capitals what's the problem? Capitals may merely be used to stress a point and don't necessarily indicate so called 'shouting'. Very petty comment indeed.

With on line forums all capitals means you are shouting the name. Yes it proves a point when used with some words, but every name throughout all his posts is done like they are shouted which makes his posts very hard to read.

It's not petty, he makes some good points in some of his posts it's just very hard to read and if it is hard to read people stop reading his posts.

There are 6 groups in the AFL.....

1. The top teams haw, geel, syd,

2. The up and comers , Freo, Rich,Ess,North

3. The not quites , Carlton, Adelaide, West coast, Port

4.The true middle of the rds, Brisbane, Gold coast

5. The ordinary StKilda and Bulldogs, GWS

6. The woeful Melbourne

GWS and Gold coast are developing extraordinary lists, and they will be very good

If Neil Craig was ever a candidate for the coaching position, I would have to say that yesterday was unhelpful. It's understood that he hasn't had a full preseason to do things his own way but if you were looking for clever moves, tactics or strategies, I didn't see any.

Clever moves, tactics and strategies are all weeing around the edges when the side is utterly dysfunctional.

That may well be the case but for a long time yesterday many of the 5 or 6 hundred Melbourne fans in attendance were waiting for the coach to echo the great John Kennedy (the Hawthorn one) and "do something"!

Passive-aggressive: If he did well he'd actually get the job. You'd have to think any sane person wouldn't want that on their resume.

Agreed but what changes did Craig make during the game to attempt to change the flow of the game? How long did it take him to realise having T-Mac loose was of no benefit when Hansen was loose. That M Jones on Harvey and Grimes on Wells was not going to work.

Chris Dawes should be dropped

No way would I be dropping Chris Dawes, the bloke is doing a damn sight more than most of the team.

He's one of the few real leaders at the club!

What would the final score have been if he'd made those changes? I understand what you're saying, but I reckon Craig had much bigger things to worry about than replacing Hack A with Hack B in Position Z when we're behind by 100 points. Complaining about this is just nit-picking IMO.

The changes need to be made well before you are100 points down.

On the way to being 100 points behind what did he do to change the momentum of the game?

IMO when we sacked Neeld, we lost Dawes aswell.....

He has some currency.... I'd consider trading him this year....Unless the new coach thinks he can reinvigorate him....

Since the announcement of the coaching panel has there been anything else said besides the game of upstairs/downstairs with Roo's?

How long til we can sack the coaching panel?

When the players are playing at 30% it makes no difference at all what position players are in. I see tactics as something you fiddle with when trying to get a slight edge in a tight game. 1%ers, if you will. A 1%er when you are 200% off the pace won't do much and isn't worth worrying about IMO.

CRAIG is an interim coach,he is aware that he can be replaced anytime. Unfortunately the Dees picked up some poor quality players some had reached their use by date. The midfield is one of

the comps weakest due to lack of experience, lack of leadership and lack of physical and mental strength, our game plan doesn't get the best out of the players. Also our reserves are not putting

pressure on the senior players.Jimmy Toumpas needs to play in the reserves to gain confidence. I am sure EADE or ROOS will be of enormous value to our team.

CHANGES to next week team

GARLAND to ff

TRENGOVE to fp

GRIMES to bp

N.JONES to fp

WATTS ruck rover

FITZPATRICK to wing

BLEASE to fp must start

DAVEY back pocket.

TOUMPAS to reserves

VINEY rover exchanging with KENT( this guy will be a champion with the right guidance)

I just found half a brain on my nature strip. Is it yours?

We had 2 inside 50s in the first quarter because when we actually got our hands on the ball we looked forward and there was Hansen. So what did we do? We either kicked it to him or we just went backwards or sideways to McDonald or whoever was free in the back 50. Pretty standard move would have been to man Hansen up and see if it changed the ball movement.

It was obvious we lacked run off half back without Garland and Terlich. It was also obvious that Grimes was not getting near it in the midfield nor Blease in the forward 50. Putting Grimes off half back or Blease there in bursts were worth a try in the first half. We were still in the game because of Norths poor kicking but instead Craig did pretty much nothing.

Neither of these things would have won us the game but not trying things as a coach for me is the equivalent of not having a go on the field.

Why is Grimes being played as a tagger? It's complete crap.

I imagine they're trying to give him firsthand experience of how a quality midfielder plays. He's an excellent rebounding backman, but not much of a midfielder at this stage.

Heres some of our problem

Even if you are exaggerating "an excellent rebounding backman: where do we play him ??? in the midfield give him some tagging skills

FFS USE THE SKILLS THEY HAVE FIRST (yes I know Im shouting)

for so long we have taken players with a talent and tried to make them into a complete footballer. instead of using the skill they have we try and modify them . I had hoped Craig would recognise which skill to use where and when and undo some of the mental frailty exposed by Neeld as he identified weaknesses while ignoring strengths. I guess I am optimistic but I can see plenty of strength that needs to be developed while figuring out how to negate the weaknesses.

The description of our mid field patterns in another post is indicative of failure of the coaching. Lets get that right ( thats a whimper almost)

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
