What is that going to do?

He isnt injured, hes just a dud.

We've lost our [censored]. Pathetic defensive efforts through the middle. We are so loose it's disgusting.

Jones getting tagged and so we have no midfield. None.

Pretty certain he is injured mate, having said that he fades in and out of games far too much.

Trengove is costing us every time he his near the ball if he is injured dont play him . He loses his feet or the ball every time he tries

Toumpas cannot get near the ball?

5 goals to 1 this quarter Come on dees Where are the captains?

Loose players through the midfield soars we aren't getting back when we lose possession.

Posted

Ok I don't care that its his first year, conditions don't suit etc.. but for toumpas to not touch it the WHOLE first half is actually a disgrace. its like we are laying with 17 blokes out there.

He isnt injured.

He has been [censored] since the start of 2012

Cannot begin to describe the liability of Trengove. Cannot get a clear kick, almost certainly a turnover when he has the ball.

How can a player regress so far. I'm actually distressed about it!

He was aslo very quick two years ago and all the power is gone, fair chance that's OP but there is no use defending himself, he is our captain, it's his job to adapt and he isn't doing it, might need a spell in the VFL

Toumpas is clearly struggling with the heat. He'll get subbed off. Let's not forget his efforts last week where he was our best player in tough wet conditions against a champion team. He's a first year player who will be up and down, so let's ease up.

Our midfield is non-existent. Jones struggling with a tag and getting no support. Viney battling his heart out.
Flipside Matt Jones unsighted. Grimes letting Rich set up play after play. Toumpas struggling. Sylvia sore ankle.

He was never quick, ever.

Trengrove is coughing it up every time he goes near it just too slow and does not deliver to a melbourne player. Fitzy playing well. Move toumpas to the forward line, where he can hopefully do some good.

I've watched a lot of footy today, and this is so far below an AFL standard game it's embarrassing. Looks like its back to us being the most boring team to watch.

My only real question is how the hell did the club expect us to be competitive with no midfield at all? We aren't missing anyone from our best midfield. This is it.

Posted

I'm sick of this Toumpas bashing. He's having a shocker, so lets have him hung, drawn, and quartered FFS. He'll get subbed out and should be given a week at Casey. A disgrace? No. The disgrace is that we need him to do the job of a senior player. Someone needs to stand up in the midfield, because with Jones being tagged out (again) we have nothing through he middle except for Viney playing the role of kamikaze.

Posted

Toumpas not having a single possession is as much his coach and teammates' fault as it is his. Geelong's senior players get the young players into the game by giving them cheapies. Melbourne players do the opposite; they see you're having an off night and so they look away from where you are.

Jack Watts had to deal with it in his first year, and now Jimmy Toumpas' development is being stunted in exactly the same way. It isn't good enough.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
