WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS

The concern I have is for Taggert to hold his place on the list, not that he won't get a game. At the moment he is uncontracted, the negative with Cross is that whilst he doesn't cost much he does take a place on the list, that's the price we pay.

Mate did you not see us play this year? Pretty sure we'll find a spot for both if we have to, Jetta is one who is contracted but expendable. Hell we could do a Foundation Heroes collection to pay out Pedersen's contract and get him off our list if we have to.

Cross isn't going to keep Terlich out of the side, they're entirely different positions. Not helping your case there at all.

As for the rest, i've never understood this argument. Collingwood need to drop Swan, Pendlebury, Beames etc., because they're stopping younger players getting a game?

And people complain about our lack of development. They need to earn it, and do what Cross has done - learn to work hard and get the most out of themselves. Easier said than done when you're being gifted games in a third-rate midfield.

Read what he wrote, "I'll play midfieid, halfback and wing".......so Terlich, Clibsy,....on the wing Barry, Kent etc......I check all my facts before posting

Is Daniel Cross definitely coming to Melbourne? It is strange to see nothing on the Melbourne website even though it has been widely verified in press releases. Have I missed something here?

And I imagine we have to wait until the delisted player free agency period starts on November 1 to make it official.

Agree 'Gonzo', I think he is a good get as we need his experience on the list. Just saying he will not come without some cost, there is always 2 sides to the deal.

Yes. He confirmed on the radio (SEN, I believe) that he will be at Melbourne pending a medical. One year contract with a performance based trigger for a second year.

Don't know about this one. Old , on the slow side and poor kick. I guess the performance trigger suits both parties.

It's not a done deal until they perform all fitness tests and set KPI's on conditional 2nd year.

Nitty gritty's left to do on contract, but he has already accepted to play for us in 2014.

What is going on with Cross and this forum? I asked an honest question yesterday whether he was definitely coming to Melbourne. I received no answers and the topic was removed by some 'kind' moderator.

Its basically a done deal just needs to complete his medical (which he will) then he will be a demon.

Every player that talks to other clubs or about to get traded to a club must always complete a medical. Its basically a final tick off on the criteria when a club is interviewing a player.

That concerns me even more, what keeping Terlich, Barry, Kent, Blease out of the side?, I will wait and see, hopefully I am wrong, if I am i will put my hand up

I just think he has had his day.

Spoke to quite a few other teams supporters at work this morning, we all chat as we arrive, they all thought we have been doing really good business with Vince, Tyson and Michie but none are sold on this, same as me

Hope your views are pointed out to him so he can ensure he surpasses your expectation

I am hoping he also adds the intensity required at training to make our prospective youth earn their spot

Who knows he may even develop into a decent coach under Roos if his ambition is correctly identified

Last year we needed mids and we got Gillies, Byrnes, Pedersen and a bloke who'd done his knee 16 times.

Cross costs us NOTHING, has a legendary training ethic and averages 22+ possessions per game. The Dogs are opposite to us. With Libba, Wallis, Boyd, Griffen, Cooney and Koby Stevens they're well stocked for mids PLUS they want to get games into Smith, Hrovat, and Macrae. It made sense to move Cross on. They don't need him. But for a year, or maybe two he'd be handy for us.

It's hard to be too displeased with this deal, but you found a way.

lol

This time last year you were on the "Neeld needs structure" bandwagon. You thought Dawes would kick 40-50 goals and Pederson would be better than Dawes.

Bob's right. You're funny.

Pedersen is a spud. A decent VFL player, but lacks confidence and ability at AFL level. Any hope I had was misdirected.

I don't know what "Neeld needs structure" means. We certainly needed a defensive game-plan, as every decent side does. Neeld lost the players the moment he walked through the door. By all means expand on your views if you feel the need.

Dawes will kick 40 goals if his body lets him play 20 games. I'm happy to stick with that view.

This is fun...

Give me some of your insight into footy 2014 and players in particular.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
